We are working on the issue with FW 1.03 now. Its a known issue we hope to resolve soon (your compass issue).

We do not have any current plans for a mac version of the profile loader. We do have plans for a mac version of LiNK but its probably not going to be done soon. The main reason is the apps are the best way to update FW, and manage the device. So a PC/Mac is really second to that. Its actually not bad. You can do everything you need to generally from the two apps. LiNK app manages the firmware (FW) and the weather side of the device. The Ballistics App manages, the Ballistics side of the device. tks doc, info and update much appreciated. until they get the compass issue sorted, it's pretty much a paperweight since i'm tired of turning in circles!

maybe while i'm waiting i'll dig out my ipad and get the profiles going.

oh, and one of the apps i have been using (ballistics) recently incorporated kestrel support although they charge a nosebleed $40 for the app and the kestrel support. as i have all my gun profiles in that app, it sure would be nice if i could somehow transfer them to the kestrel app. but that app didn't implement any control or change of settings for the kestrel--only to read the environmental data and plug it into the app's fields.

i haven't used the kestrel since this post back in february but today i fired up the app and discovered an update. the first update, although it said it downloaded 100%, didn't 'take' and i had to repeat it. i'm not at all sure if it didn't do an intermediate update or not, my version seems to have gone from 1.03 to 1.05 so i guess it's possible that 'failed' one was 1.04 and it immediately told me the one for 1.05 was waiting.

i do notice i have log info now and i've calibrated the compass, but i'll have to shut the unit off and on several times to see if it 'sticks' now. the update did trash all my settings which i found annoying. would be nice if the app could change the settings or at the least sync up the time.

does anyone have a change list? i couldn't find the update or mention of it on any of the kestrel or hk sites.

[btw, just noticed an air bubble on my screen and realized the protective film was still on it. duh ... [g]

1.04 was a temporary patch for 1.05. The compass issue, and lockup issues were the big fixes. But also some stability fixes have come through with the apps and FW updates.

thanks for the info! we're into tornado season here in texas and i'm a spotter, so i'm using it solely for the weather functions right now.

also, the compass hasn't uncalibrated itself and i now have log and min/max/avg and graph data, so, as far as i'm concerned you've fixed my two largest issues, so well done!

oh, i know. grapefruit-size hail and 70mph winds for some lucky location. i've been monitoring updates since last week. i'm outside of abilene and i hope it starts north of us although i don't wish anything bad on anyone, anywhere. north texas has a 50-60% chance of tornadoes and that goes up by 10% for ok and ks. /guy

Has the latest set of updates/patches fixed all of the issues yet? Here in Idaho we shoot Rockchucks from zipcode to zipcode. Target stays put for 5-30 seconds, and yardages are NOT marked out here.

Long time ago. 1.07 has been running well for some time now.

Is it common after firmware updates that settings get changed? Mine switched from yards to meters and adjusted my bore height a touch.

This can happen depending on the amount of changes in the FW update. It is always good to go and double check profiles/settings after an update.
