I am looking in to new trigger group for a Winchester model 70. Wondering if anyone has use this trigger or if I should just spend the extra money and get a Jewell.

Interesting "spend more for a Jewel". Are the rfire Js that much more expensive than a K?
Every K I've seen listed was waaaaay N of $300.
Educate me.

I bought the PTG "Kenyon" for the Rem 700 (listed elsewhere on their site), and am waiting for a return authorization to send it back. Hopefully they'll give me my money back since it does not work as intended (and is in fact a bit dangerous), instead of the "store credit" their website lays out.

When trigger is pulled, a nearly imperceptible "click" can be felt, but the firing pin does not drop. Occasionally the firing pin will then drop as the bolt handle is lifted, which subsequently results in a very heavy bolt lift. It appears the sear is not interfacing properly with the cocking piece, with no apparent ability to adjust since the only adjustments are for takeup and weight (minor adjustment to the takeup screw provided zero improvement). Gun is brand new Remington 700 Varmint which functions fine with the factory X-Mark Pro trigger installed. Also, trigger housing is much larger than OEM, and will require significant reinletting of the stock to function, something not mentioned in the listing

I hope they do, but I wouldn't hold my breath. If they don't, maybe just buy something that is likely to be IN SPEC, and is highly marketable? Probably the best you can do.

Post a thread on what happens, if you would?

Now about this bit though...the website sucks, but that's a little bit on you as well. The housing is clearly a great deal longer than the OEM "Walker" design, even in the pictures. Karl HAD to make the housing that way to sheath the length of the levers he used. His housings have been that size since the 1960's, and a little more research on your part would have verified that fact before ordered PTG's wonderful attempt at recreating the trigger for $75.

I hope it works out in your favor, but if not, send your action, stock, and the trigger to Doan, and he can probably make them "get along".

Thank you guys for posting on this. I was able to call and cancel my order before it was shipped out this morning. I will be looking at a Jewell or timney. Also have an idea. To make trigger for a external trigger adjustment.

Sent them an email the other day and got a prompt response. Apparently the online RMA process that is required to get a refund and is very explicitly outlined on the website is no longer used, you can send items directly back with no prior authorization. I was satisfied with the quick response and the willingness to take the item back, should be back to them today or Monday. If I can get a refund, that’ll be great although I’ll probably be eating 15 bucks or so in round trip shipping.

I'm not a rifle guy, I'm putting a 700 together for the first time in 6 or 7 years, which will be my second. I certainly don't think it’s incumbent on the buyer to know the minutiae of every custom trigger ever made for every rifle over the past half century + and what possible fit issues may be presented. A single sentence in their ad that stated “may/will require reinletting” would have been more than sufficient, since this is outside of the skill set of a majority of shooters, and will definitely affect whether a shooter buys one or not, especially since very nearly every other 700 trigger I’ve ever seen is a drop-in fit.

Nope, not throwing good money after bad. Bought a Triggertech instead, which will be drop-in and won’t require hundreds of dollars of modifications to a brand new rifle and brand new stock to make work.

Id throw a triggertech in there and be done with it. Area 419 runs sales quite often. Jewell is another very good choice. Sometimes trying to save money will cost you even more in the end

What makes a Kenyon trigger so much better than others? I have several for model 70’s at my house that my grandfather left me. He used them for cross course competition.
