Kelbly and Farley triggers

What i found wrong with the newer ones, first the holes have burrs on the inside of the side plates. second if use a stone to deburr you will find them bent( i had one the cocking piece would not go in) QC. seems at question here. If i travel to a match and have trigger problem,you waist a lot of time, money and wear on barrel. I have a very old shilen like 30 years old i keep for a spare but i have a new jewell i'll sell cheap........jim

Jim, I can only quote what I once read that Arnold Jewell said, "if you have a problem w/our trigger, tell us, not others, because we fix problems". Larry in western Ky.

I don't think it's basis to abandon Jewell, but stuff we could be lookin out for.

The Kelblys were all purchased 2nd hand - one still new in the wrapper, the other two had been tinkered with, and gave me problems. I returned them to Kelbly with a note explaining that they were purchased used, and I had them back, good as new - no charge - within a week. They replaced a couple of non-original springs that the previous owner had installed, and had them set right where I want them for prone shooting.

Kelby either lied to you or some one put diffrent springs in between my house and yours. I never changed any springs...Ever. The one never worked right from day one, and I explained that to you when You purchased it. The second worked just fine.
This is why I took a pretty healthy lose on those two triggers. My lose your gain.

Larry, A lot of people have been making money fixing the new Jewell triggers to work the way they were intended, this has been going on a long time. A friend of mine had problems with a Kelbly but he sent it back and they had the wrong pin in it.
Russ, What was the problem with your Kelbly trigger? I had one that was a little heavy, stoned a little of the bottom of the pin and it went down to 1.5 oz.

The old saying applies here,"you can satisfy most of the people most of the time, but you cant satisfy all of the people all the time".
If man makes it, it can be flawed. It makes no differece as to the perfection of the product , errors happen. If your Jewell trigger doesnt come up to your expectation, the factory is the place to get the problem fixed, not at some outside source. There will always be someone trying to re-invent the wheel, that will be glad to relieve you of your money.

Russ, One of those Kelbly triggers did cause me some problems when I installed in on my newest BAT 3L. I've got that barreled action (30" Bartlein med Palma 1-8 in 6.5x47L) in a pretty English walnut McGee prone stock, and had just finished putting it together before our State MR Prone matches, fall of 2010. The trigger seemed fine the few times I'd dry-fired it, and gave no problems when I zeroed the irons & scope off the bench here at home before leaving for the match. But I had the rifle go off just as I touched the trigger a couple of times during the first any sight match. I swapped the Kelbly out for a new Jewell after I got home from the match, then finally sent both triggers back to Kelbly March, 2011. The notes they sent back with the triggers mentioned "removed non-Kelbly spring from trigger with black tape on it". Furthermore, they mentioned setting the trigger at 1lb with the pin in hole#2 and using heavy springs, and that they don't recommend using hole #3 or #4. Their instruction sheet mentions needing pins of different lengths for different actions, which I'd never seen before. So, right now, I've got one Kelbly on another BAT 3L - it's the new trigger I got from Butch Lambert several years ago, and is set at 8oz. The two I got from you are also going into BAT 3L actions - one for myself, and another for a customer. I don't expect to have problems with either, and am happy to have gotten them at a very decent price.

I have several Jewell triggers and have had no problems with them.I plan to buy two more this year.The instructions were well written and easy to understand.The one Kelbly trigger that I have works fine,but the instructions that came with it could have been written better.I have no expeirence with the Farley,but with their name,I would expect it to be very good.
