Kelbage?

If you can buy a Remage barrel for $300 why can't you buy a Kelbage screw on for $300 and you wouldn't have to headspace.?

why would you make one that has a nut when you can eliminate that and hit all the numbers right?

For me, it's 100% about cost.

I'm considering one for my son who's starting LR, he's 10. I'd much rather have a $350 setup than a $800 setup while he's learning. I already have a Bravo, NF, and a spare action on the shelf.

Because any gunsmith can make a barrel for a kelbly action that fits all the dimensions- why would you make one that has a nut when you can eliminate that and hit all the numbers right?
Yes I see, I guess my question should have been - if you can buy a chambered barrel for a remage for 300$ why aren't there 300$ chambered barrels for a Kelbly [without nut] or are there?
thanks Guys

I guess any of the guys who make a $300 barrel should be able to do it for a panda too. I guess nobody has asked for it yet. I guess a panda isnt the popular action for nut barrels

If you read more carefully, I think you’ll agree that his question has nothing to do with a barrel nut???

That is better.

Maybe because it takes more skill/time to get the Kelbly threaded properly for that perfect fit. Rather than just screwing a BBL in or out till it headspaces right.

Most barrel blanks that guys are using on custom actions are more than $300 before chambering. The prefits for $300 use a substantially cheaper barrel blank

I would think that today with modern machining techniques any manufacturer could have shouldered prefit made for there actions... Keep in mind when I say this I aint real smart..

I'm another one who made some assumptions on this----a bad habit.
When you say Kelbly, I think Panda.

The Panda action dimensions and spec's are very well documented and there are smiths who'll provide chambered barrels without the action in hand.

Its been said here that this is no more than a machining job-----reasonably simple
for a good machine guy with good dimensions and sensible tolerances.

Some could probably do this fast enough to make a few bucks.

One man's opinion.
