Kahr CM9 tungsten

I guess I'm going backwards in our " must have double stack" magazine world. No I don't have to have a lot of bullets to defend myself, all I have to do is place one or two correctly if the need arises.

I have always liked Kahr pistols simply because they are, 1- American made, 2- they work very well. having said that I came across the Kahr CM9 in tungsten and I bought it. The first thing I saw in the box was a copy of the U.S. constitution, when was the last time you bought a firearm and got one of those with it? There was also two other gifts in there, a Pachmayr hand grip and two Pearce pinky magazine butt plates.

I broke the pistol down and cleaned it and then grabbed a bag of 9mm that had a mix of 115gr, 124gr and 147gr all in there together and headed to the range. I went to pistol bay 7 which has both plywood backers and a rack of steel plates to play with in it.
Plywood first, I put a four target sheet of paper, 4" targets up and started at 7yds and after couple of rounds I had them inside the 4" target, and then I went to the other bullseyes and shot at 10yds and then 15yds and kept all of them in the 4" targets.

Next to the steel plates, Since I had an idea of where it shot now I backed out to 10yds and it knocked 5 of the 6 plates down with no problem, (I was only loading five rounds at a time in the magazine). Next out to 15yds and after five plates falling down I went to 20yds and repeated it again, the little pistol ran perfect and after fifty rounds I called it good for two reasons, 1- I was out of ammo, and 2- it was in the 20's up there and my hands were cold enough that I was having trouble racking the slide.

Looking at the hit marks on the plates it looks like the CM9 was most accurate at 10-15yds and those shots were center of the plate, more shooting to come of course, but for now it's very much a great little pocket pistol, I had forgotten how well made and how much fun Kahr pistols are.

Just a great gun. Got a number of Kahr's. Worst thing ever for marksmanship was high capacity
magazines! I feel safe carrying a 5 shot revolver. First two is all that really counts.
Thanks for a great post. Oh....l love Kahr triggers....much safer than strike fired gun. I shot a lot
of ppc back in the day and it feels natural to me as well.

How in the world do you manage to shoot that well with the horrible trigger pull? Not picking on Kahr or you just looking for a tips on how to shoot my Kahr. The trigger pull is the only thing I dislike about the gun.

Agreed. I have to pull my CW9 trigger a mile. As a side note I did run some 125gr TC cast powder coated through it the other day. Was just function checking.

I have had a few Kahrs, cw45, covert 40, and a mk40 elite. The mk40 has an amazing double action trigger.

They all were pretty accurate and reliable. My dad wanted two of them and a buddy needed one for concealed carry.

Though I am a confirmed 1911 fan, I do like my Kahr CW45 when wearing light summer clothing. The only downside is the extremely aggressive checkering of the grip coupled with the recoil of top loads. I solve this with the old trick of a section of bicycle tube stretched over the grip like a sock. Done carefully, it blends right in and makes shooting a breeze.

Kahr's are made with a double action trigger pull, this one of the first things explained in almost every review I have ever read on them. If there is a problem with the trigger just send it back and it will be fixed for you.

This is my third Kahr and each one has had the same trigger pull, smooth double action the same as a smooth double action revolver. If a person hasn't shot revolvers much it may take a little getting used to.

I have never noticed that the checkering on my CW is overagressive.
Perhaps the style has changed over the years. Mine is from the 2005 - 2008 timeframe and the various web sites (Kahr Talk, Firing Line, We The Armed, Handgun Forum) of that era all specifically mention the aggressive checkering. About like grabbing a handful of 60-grit sandpaper. Those sites are where I got the idea of the bicycle tube addition.
