Kahles K624i vs Zeiss V6 reviews

I just ordered a leupold VX6HD which hasn't arrived yet but I need one more high quality scope and I will be set. I have narrowed it down between the kahles and Zeiss. Really was looking for some feed back on the Zeiss V8 but seems no one has handled one. So what's the thoughts of everyone on here? What is the advantages and disadvantages or either one? Thank you, this site and everyone on it has such good info.

I have not personally owned either one but based on things I read the Zeiss seems to have trouble holding point of aim. Check out the thread on scope testing on the Competition Forum. Read all of it. Matt

I like the power range on the Ziess 2.8-20 or 4.8-35 is pretty awesome for sure. I’ve only owned a Kahles Gen II K624i, you can’t go wrong with the scope. Mine had an incredible sight picture but more importantly it was ultra reliable, very repeatable and it always held zero. If you shooting targets I’d vote for the Kahles, if you hunting the ability to get lower than 6x would be nice. Tough choice

What "Competition Forum" ,can you provide a link ?

You are on the scopes and optics forum, the competition forum is 8 forums above that. Click on it and look for thread, scope testing. 47 pages of good info. Matt

I read about a Zeiss Victory 6-24x56 having only 16 mils (54moa) of total elevation.

I don't know what your intended purpose of the rifle your gonna put one of these scopes on. But I would get the Kahles. 100% of the time.

Did you read the Zeiss V6 riflescope review just posted on LongRangHunting.com?

Matt, which specific scope tester are you referencing?
The one where you mount a frozen scope and the one your testing. You fire a shot and see it they stay on the same point of aim at 100 yards. There is a thread on the Competition Forum. It is scope testing and about 51 pages or so long. It is some real good info on it. They are testing scopes regularly and posting results. A lot are not having the results you would think. I believe it is the only way to test them. It gives the variable of recoil and vibration that only a shot fired can reproduce. MATT

V8s are probably one of the best scopes where optical quality is concerned. The illumination is also outstanding. I don't think you'll find a scope with better glass. They are fairly big with 36mm tubes, but are relatively lightweight. The zero stop system is a bit limiting because it only allows for one rotation. For zeroing, you have full use of the scope's elevation. Nice scopes but really intended for mid range hunting. You could for sure use one for a bench rest scope.

The V6s have similar glass but a different optical design. The optical quality is not as good as V8, but as good or better than anything under $2000. MOA turrets and reticles in SFP with 60-100 minutes of elevation make these a great option for long range hunting, ELR, or for anyone who doesn't want/need FFP or mils. The zero stop is 100% adjustable and will let you use the remaining available elevation instead of stopping at one turn. 20 minutes per revolution. My only gripe with the V6 is the 5-30x models have their reticles trued at 25x. That said, I prefer scopes that max out between 14x and 18x, so not a huge issue for me personally. Very lightweight for this magnification range and optical quality.

The new V4s have ED glass and where the V8s and V6s are manufactured in Germany, the V4s are being made by LOW in Japan. I think you won't find better optical quality in the same price range. Same style elevation turrets and zero stop as the V6. Capped windage turret. Again, MOA reticles and turrets, SFP. Reticles are all true at max magnification.

V4s are brand new to the market, but V8s have been out for a few years and V6s have been shipping since last July. ImI not aware of any common issues or failures in either.

One last thought, the Kahles K624i is a $3000 scope, the V6 is a $1800 scope- probably not looking at apples to apples here.

In that class I would also consider the Swarovski X5 5-25x. I have shot one for 2.5yrs and it has performed great at 600yds. I like the glass better than my two March's. The reticle choices are more limited however. It compares well to the Kahles 6-24 I viewed through but did not shoot through. Very reliable tracking.

I like my Swarovski X5I 5x25. It is a good scope, very good glass and tracking seems spot on. Matt

Love/hate relationship with mine.... Short story....

About 3 years ago my wife was trying to decide on a Christmas gift for me and went to the local outfitters for ideas. Somehow they talked her into a Swar X5 5-25. Keep in mind I had taken a hiatus from shooting, other than ducks and geese, for nearly 3-4 years. When I opened the box, quite surprised and puzzled, I told her that is a wonderful gift but...I don't really have a rifle that would take advantage of that optic. She smiled and said she "figured that would be part of the deal...go buy one". I did (RPR in the much maligned ...you guessed it...6.5 Creedmoor Here Grimstod...here boy...(ribbin ya)) and attended a F-class match just to see.....and it is all downhill from there....:D
