I use a DD in SR score. I had my dad's Italian cousin in Foggia, Italy buy 2 K1050's one with the DD the other with a crosshair with dot reticle because the MOAK reticle is the only reticle you can get in the US. That MOAK reticle is too busy a reticle for SR score that's why I went the extra mile to get what I have.

The theory behind Double Dot reticle is; the dot is generally much easier to pick up (in general, clearly it also depends on the size of the dot,and fineness of the cross hairs). The second dot gives a second aiming mark for a different distance, exactly what distance usually needs to be checked by actual firing, but lets say top dot is zeroed at 100y, bottom dot might be close to "on" at say 200y (again, magnification may alter the second dot hold distance (in second focal plane scope).

Unlike the fine cross hair that gives (only) one aiming mark.
