Just saying G'Day

New here from Australia into LR, varminting and rifle building.
Current toys:
22-250 on Rem700 the only thing that's original is the action and bolt.
22-KHornet Brno ZKW-465 again the only thing original is the action.

plus other rifles

New project is a Win P14 in 6.5 Epps just something different. Currently have Bartlien #9 1:8 barrel, speed lock, timney trigger and the stock is getting made.
Just waiting on reamer from Dave Manson and dies from CH4D

Cheers
Varmtr

Welcome! What kind of varmints do you shoot down there? Over my way on the western side of the US I shoot coyotes, ground squrriels, and rock chucks with various 17, 22 and 6mm's.

Welcome to the forum. Your P14 should be capable of handling anything you want to build on it. They are stout actions.

What metalwork are you going to do on the action if any?

Joe

G'day Joe
The rear of the action had already been contoured to match the knox and the stripper clip feed groves had already been removed. This saved me a heap of time. Will need to custom machine a pic rail to suit though. Other than that I actually like the dog leg bolt handle and I'm also leaving the standard belly bottom metal aswell.
The action will be cerakote just a flat black with a S/S barrel on a thumbhole stock either out of euro walnut or a aussie timber either blackwood or red ironbark. The stock maker didn't like the idea of ironbark as its actually that hard he will need to use tungsten carbide bits.

If you like very good wood, see Roger Vardy. He is a fellow country man of yours. He has some of the best Walnut found on this planet. He is my supplier. You probably know of Stuart Elliott (BRT Shooters Supply" in Springwood, QLT. He has been a close friend for about 20yrs.
Welcome to the forum. If you would like any pics of my Model 1917 Enfield, let me know.

I know Roger, only about 2 hour drive from were I live if I do go walnut it will be from him. As my zkw465 is wearing his walnut. Never meet Stuart but ordered plenty of gear off him.
For sure like to pics of the Enfield you have.
Cheers

The idea that Ironbark is so hard that carbide cutters are needed is not correct,I wouldn't use it because of the weight.

Welcome. Lovely country you live in. I visited a while back. Never met a sour puss.:) Sorry about your gun laws. You're welcome to come on up, anytime! Josh

Hi Mike
I can only go by what he told me and a old time stock maker Jeff Slee said the same thing.
Anyways its a nice timber and the weight doesn't bother me. Thats what 4wd's are for and sand bag.

Welcome to the forum as it is the best on the net. Would love to see pics of the enfield and the cz. What is a 6.5 epps? What parent cartridge is it?
