Just my opinion about the RCBS Micrometer Case Gauge

I just read the Daily Bulletin about the RCBS Case Headspacing gauge. With all do respect to RCBS I think they are a fine company and make great dies. Their case Gauge in my humble opinion is limited in what it does. A Wilson style case gauge is much more useful and faster to use. One can check the headspacing length, case neck length, OAl, web, and shoulder diameter, etc. I have had two customers who had the RCBS micrometer case gauge and both bumped their case shoulders back too much when reloading causing headspacing issues. The Wilson style gauge is metal just like a headspacing go and no-go gauge. Anybody can us the Wilson style case gage it is a no brainer. If the case fits inside a Wilson Style case gauge and fits between the max and min size length limitations it should chamber. The documentation that comes with the gauge tell you exactly what size your case is.

Gotta disagree ghostrider. I use the RCBS tool and it works fine for me.

The Wilson? Ok, if it's between the marks you're ok. It doesn't help you adjust your dies to bump the shoulders.

If your customers got the shoulder bumping off by so much it affected headspace, I'd call it natural selection and tell them to stick to factory match ammo. They have no business reloading live ammunition!
