Just how tough is the .204 Berger 55 Gr ? Ill tell ya

I've already assigned the Berger 55s to the 20 223 wild cat I have ...
It maintains 3500 fps

Went on to heavier and stronger projectiles
57 and 63 grain vld ..

There are ways to say something without coming across as a pompous azz ..

I'm fully capable maneuvering through the grief fields without any so called advice from these types .

I'm no dummie

Shotafterdark,

Don't get so offensive on the forum?? Aaron and some of these guys (Sherm)...are experienced and I've known them for years. Jeff's comments are right on the money. Years ago I got into it on this forum with another guy who asked about my development on the .20BR. I gave the fellow a lot of information about my work-up of the .20BR. He made comments to the effect on the forum that anyone who shot a .20 cal for long range (1000 yds)...shouldn't! I should have kept my "mouth shut"...but didn't! Turned into a "pitching contest" on PM's. He and I still don't correspond. I regret that.,

At least you aren't talking very small case 20's. Overloads can be FLAT dangerous!! I can show you pictures...lol!

Take it easy my friend.

I appreciate your input
Thank you.

I think we're all here to have a good time. And we all have a shared interest

It keeps us out in the field or in the shop
It provides an outlet from the craziness in the world.

Where we can tinker and let our imagination
Take shape .

But there's a way of going about communicating that you don't have to be
Condescending

I'd like to consider everybody here a friend
And I don't know about you, but friends that I have.We don't talk to each other like that

I usually work ten to twelve hours a day in my line of work.I deal with the worst types of people on the daily..

When I come here, I like to feel like I can get away from that.

Thanks for the response. Some people just write with what might be considered "Condescending". Talking to them by phone or PM's, one doesn't feel that way!

Ir seems to me you are trying different things in regards to .20 cals at the very top of the spectrum. I think these same folks are just trying to help from their perspective (and experience) as I hope I have with my comments to you.

Best of luck.

Thank you so much You are a breath of fresh air and I hope you're right

I just got done shooting a 6 string with the 33 grains of Power Pro 2000 MR
I have no signs of pressure and only a standard deviation of 18 feet per second with an average velocity of 3650 fps ...

Then I broke out the 22 Creedmore AR10 platform for the first test run
and did a 6 shot test with 69 GR Hornady Match BT with W 760 behind it
and sent 6 down range ,,,that is below . 3300 fps exactly is what it averaged

You WILL have problems with that 7 twist and 55s going that fast. Just a matter of time.

There have been lots previous attempts at getting that bullet going fast. Most guys with experience will tell you a 9t is fast enough, an 8t is too fast, and the berger recommended 7t is way too much. Most guys will also limit it to 3650fps ish. Some guys get away with a little more, some dont.

I wish you the best of luck on this one. Hope you found the magic sauce that makes it work.
