just how high will a ghog climb?

i was glassing a large field on sat and i was checking out a huge stack of hay to see if one was out grazing, these were round bales 4 bales high covered with white plastic...several stories high. well just look at that!!! a ghog was sitting on top of the plastic covered bales enjoying the view! he had eaten a hole in the plastic and was half in, half out. an easy shot but he would fall inside, so we just watched. even if he came all out, a kill would stay up there and i wasn't going to risk my life climbing that mountain. i know they will climb a tree but usually just a few branches up, so this pig gets the highest altitude ghog award.

I have seen a few that were at least 12 to 15 feet up a tree. Usually they were hanging in a Y or laying on a branch. Matt

shot several off of fenceposts this year and last, but never saw one that high!

I shot one years ago that was about 20 feet up an elm tree, and as was mentioned a few off of the top of fenceposts. It took a few minutes to figure what was up in the tree, I thought it was a monkey at first. It was siting up on a branch just like it belonged there.
