Just for fun -- Another New .40sw Pistol

I just don't seem to be able to stop buying .40 caliber pistols, I certainly don't need anymore but when i see one listed at roughly $200, well I get sucked right in again. It's the "well I haven't shot one of those yet" curse I seem to have been born with.

This one is the Taurus G3c in .40 S&W and it came with a you break it and we'll fix it promise plus a rebate on it and three mags, ... well that set the hook and I was had again by the .40 S&W.

When it got here I cleaned and lubed it and off to the range I went in the rain and snow, I ran three mags through it and called it a day. It ran good with no problems so I took it home and cleaned it again just see how it looked and it was fine. So here I am with a new toy which of course needed to be shot some more.

Forum Boss -- Here is an interesting video about the Taurus G3c .40sw pistol:

This time I ran up Ladd canyon which is closer to home and has a snow mobile parking lot up the canyon which was empty and a place people go to shoot when it's empty. The parking lot is carved out of the side of a hill and has some large rocks on the hill side and is a great place to shoot rocks if you pay attention to what your doing. It was still spitting snow and rain, but who cares?

I had three mags loaded with ten rounds each and decided to do mag dumps just see how it would work. The first rock was 22yds up the hill and facing away from me, so I dumped ten rounds on it and put another mag in and moved up the hill to the next rock which was roughly 28yds up the hill above the first rock. I dumped a quick ten rounds there and stuck another mag in and moved up the hill to the next rock which was 36yds further up. I dumped ten rounds on it and stopped to fill one more mag since there was another rock to shoot which turned out to 42yds up the hill. I of course dumped the last ten rounds on it and stopped.

I had ranged the the rocks so I knew how far away they were but I had to climb up the hill to get the group sizes. The first group was roughly 6" the next was roughly 8-10" and the next roughly 12-16" and the last was 16-24". Not the best groups by any means but ok for mag dumps and good for me. the pistol was as close to dead on as you can expect for the price

The whole take away for me was simple, it worked as it should and old men shouldn't try to climb hills anymore! And yes my hand was talking to me when I was done. All in all a very fun morning shooting rocks and a new jeep gun for me.
