Just bought Bushnell, don't know what their selling

Nobody is attacking you. But if you know it's a mil reticle, then whats the point in asking Bushnell? "PERIOD, end of the story, no mistake at all" ;)

Jezze, I didn't know if it was or not it doesn't say that is why I ask, no one knew until I ranged it then I knew , get it ?

I think they do that as a sales pitch to attract AR people who don't mess with mil or moa so they tell them it will be on at x amount of yards, calling it AR223 BDC, when in fact it's in mils, second I would be willing to bet the one they call AR308 is in mils also.

It's also in MOA. I posted the drawing directly from Bushnell.

The dealer/manufacturer could not offer a MIL or MOA measurement for the BDC reticle because the BDC reticle is not based on those measurements.

BDC reticles offer a generalization of bullet trajectory and can only estimate bullet drop in specific circumstances. Manufactures can't measure generalization.

no kidding ! well I'm here to tell you the first three dots are in mils BDC is a BS term

Thats the adj ring not the reticle

No, it's the reticle. Look at the drawing. Or here.. since some people find it really friggin hard. I'll post a pitcher for you. MOA. The measurement's are provided here in MOA. Sure, do the conversion to MIL if you want, but it says here MOA. 1.7, 4.4, 7.6, 11.4. MOA.

Hey.. here's a picture, of your reticle, in MOA.

Hey.. the MFR provided a MOA measurement of the reticle. I posted it twice in this thread.

MOA measurement.

Hey.. The Manufacturer (That's Bushnell.. are you still with me?) provided a MOA Measurement of the reticle.

MOA.

I missed that attachment I scrolled up , it was small didn't see it, where did you get that picture from? Bushnell does not show that anywhere either does optics planet, according to Busnell sight that is not available http://bushnell.com/tactical/riflescopes/ar-optics/4-5-18x-40mm

LMAO ! you called bushnell ? I called he didn't know nothing
Emailed someone I know there. They have them available for all their reticles. You just have to keep asking someone. Eventually you'll find someone that knows.

Subtention drawing or something like that should mean something to someone.

I asked for it. Just for you. :D

It looks somewhat but not the same, at the 3 dot mark it shows 7.6moa that equals 7.95 inches --7.6moa times x 1.047 that is 0ne moa. So the third dot on mine is equal to 3.6 thats one mil times 3 = 10.8 inches on my third dot, now some guys who hunt like to round the mil to 3.4 for easier ranging of their animal even at 3.4 is 10.2, now that may be a picture of a reticle in moa and maybe once they offer that but it is not my reticle, if it were mine in moa each dot would be 3.6 (1 mil) divide by 1.047 (1 moa) would be 3.4 inches x 3 for the third dot is 10.2 inches at 100 yards

that was pretty nice mil or moa doesn't matter to me I can work with both

Are you taking your measurements at full magnification ? 18x?

If I get reticles that are ruled I'm not crazy about BDCs, I'd rather just have a straight MOA or mil reticle, and I prefer mils for my hunting scopes.

I do dislike manufacturers that don't provide subtensions for their reticles. You shouldn't have to search that hard.

Based on the drawing provided Bushnell obviously spec'd the reticle in MOA but if you want to use mils the answers are:

0.5mil
1.3mil
2.25mil
3.4mil

for the drops based on the drawing above. Just like a powder charge you can weigh it in grains, grams, or oz; it is the same with the reticle. It is just a unit of measure.

Yes most scopes that got to 24x range at the highest power, example, I have a bushnell elite in mils it is 15x it ranges at 15x and I measured my post with it it came to 65 yards, I did the same with the 18x in came to 64.8 that's about the same, also measured with vortex 6x24 FFP Right in the same area.

I agree. I'm not a fan of any scope with a reticle specially tailored to a specific cartridge using run of the mill factory ammo. Makes the reticle holdover marks nearly useless if ever swapped to other rifles with different ballistic characteristcs.

Never been a fan of milradian retices either because in second plane, they only work on a certain magnification. In FFP, the reticle gets way to big and thick for my taste when trying to make precision shots at long range. So if anything, its straight MOA for me. Just my preference.

However, the more I shoot, I the more I actually prefer NO 'trash' on my reticle of any kind. I much rather prefer to use my turrets and have a plain SFP reticle. For varmint hunting, I like a fine cross hair with maybe a small dot sighted in dead on at 200 yards. Holdover to 400 and dial the turret past that. For hunting, I like a thinner dual X sighted in dead on at 300 yards. With 300 yards zero, I don't need to use my turrets until an animal is out past 500 yards. Out to 500, the holdover is pretty simple with a 300 yard zero. Of course for precision work checking accuracy on paper, I always dial my turrets so I can hold dead center of the target. I will also use my turrets if the hunting situation provides enough time. But it's not hard to judge the correct holdover if a quick shot is needed.

I like moa, but no problem with mil, I have a 200 yard range In my back yard and no one behind me for miles so I shoot alot most my scopes are all for competition and fine crosshair or 1/8 moa dot, but I do like to just fool around with mil based and moa based scopes, being retired I have plenty of time to play in the back yard
