Just bought a 260

Just picked up a 260 Remington in a tikka T3 lite . Any good loads for these things?

R16, H4350, and H4831sc all work really well. essentially anything that works for the Creedmoor will work for the .260 as well.

Seriously, the load I posted has been proven in dozens of rifles time and time again. It's where I start with any new component, and is excellent as a fire forming load in my 260AI. It's a middle of the road load that is safe (not at the top of the load book) and provides adequate velocity for any yardage you choose.

If I remember right it wasn't very high, as I use it for fire forming to 260AI, but my notes show 31moa at 1k, so 2650 or so from a 26" 1-8. But it shot consistently in the .2's and several groups in the .1's at short range.

140 gr SMK and 37 gr of Varget. Just picked up a Tikka CTR T3 with 300 rounds on it. Slapped a scope on it, zeroed it then shot this 5 round group. You’re going to love that round.

Look at 123's also.
I pulled my hair out trying to get a good deer load for wifes Remington 700 VTR with 20" barrel.
140's shot good but slower than molasses in January.
130 berger otm showed good promise w/h4350 but only around 2700 fps.
123 amax and RL19 showed me the love.
Running at 2800.

I've only killed paper with my two 260s so far. I've had good results with 123gr AMAXs and Varget or H4350.

I’m hoping to get the 135 Berger’s or 140’s to shoot well. Just going to be my deer gun. Had a Remington in creedmoor. POS would not shoot for crap. Sold it and picked this up. I hope it comes together better then the creedmoor .

My shoots sub 1/2 moa with 142 smks and H4350 around 2900fps but that is from a 30" barrel.

I save the heavy bullets for my Creeds. My go-to load is a 129 Hornady Interlock, over Re 17 at 2950 fps, from a 24-inch Criterion barrel. It is half-moa capable and I have killed probably 50-ish(haven't kept a tally) deer with the load out to 430 yards.

don't you know a 260 is junk compared to the 6.5 screechmore? even thought the cases are 98% the same and fire the same bullets at the same speed?

I have two 260s as well (Tikka CTR and a Rem Gen2 5R). Haven't loaded for either of them yet but both shoot sub moa with factory ammo. Debating selling the 5R to build a rifle. Always liked a 260.

Besides the Tikka, I have another 260 built on a FN SPR Action and Benchmark Barrel. It loves the 123 gr AMAX. Sample 5 shot group. I have shot 4 deer with the 140 gr AMAX out of my Creed. They do work well.
