It’s seems we keep losing many who are contributing members to the forum and the shooting sports. I wonder if there is away to update a profile of those who have passed to let others know their status and why they aren’t responding to PMs or contributing like they have in the past here on the forum? Just an idea…

Like your idea. An "In Memorium" or similar named listing that would not be open for comments would be useful. Screen name, real name and time span they were a member is all that would be listed.

On other forums I've seen where a moderator would put R.I.P. by the screen name of deceased members.

One Issue with doing that is it basically turns into a depository that hackers can use to assume user id’s / info.

Adding an R.I.P. or some such to let people know why they don’t respond seems helpful. Leaving the account active but locking it so it can’t be signed into would stop someone else from using that login name.

I would guess that a very large majority (likely over 90%) have not been active on here in the past, say, year or two. That would still leave a significant number though.

Does the forum software give a report about user-based activity in the past year or two? If so, you could start with those.
