Just a new guy (sort of) question... Are there any match classes for novice or hunter folks ?

Paducah Shooters Supply has a range that I think goes to 200. I am a member there but usually just shoot some rim fire and sighting in with low wind. Nice covered line.

They had a fire a week ago at the shop and I am not sure sure what is going on.

I think it might be a place to look at.

I've shot rim fire over there. I don't remember it having more range but it may have been a different spot or even club for that matter. I can't recall the name of the club right this minute.

I think the last target row in front of the berm is 200. I think. I may have a chance to check on Friday.

EDIT:
The club did have a different name which, for some reason, I for the life of me can not remember.

204, 264, 284?? Not picking, just curious how they are handled.

At the time there isn't many calibers outside of 223, 243, and 308 that shoot in matches. I assume that the 204 would shoot the 223 target, the 264 and 284 would shoot the 308 targets. That would be a little disadvantage shooting these calibers. The target are caliber specific making the playing field equal, having a smaller bullet than what the target caliber is, would mean some one shooting a 308 against a 284 would have a .016 inch advantage. It would be like shooting a 6mm against a 308 in IB.S.
If there was enough interest in shooting say a 264 caliber , a target could be made for that caliber giving it equal chance.
I think at this time the only caliber that has shot a perfect score at 100 yards is a 6mm. There have been a few people do this, but all where done with a 6mm.

Ok. Same as when I last checked. I know that some of the informal shoots going with the UBR idea are just scoring everything with a 30 reticle.

EDIT:
If someone is interested in making contact about a shoot, the range in Paducah (Shooters Supply) is open and the have 200 yard capability. Its Club range #3, covered with concrete top benches and/or a forward flat platform for prone.

The store will reopen on Monday in the old Guy Grey building on 62 west on the right hand side of the road. You get off I 24 like you are going to Paducah Community college and keep going about a mile....

Hope someone contacts them.

There is another thread on here "Growing the Sport" over on the competition forum. There are 20 some pages and everything from gun cost and match cost to classes and age groups has been well discussed.

It seems to me that this Ultimate Bench Rest organization has the most to offer the new shooter just based on the classes they have and the targets they shoot. I am going to try and participate in one of their shoots as soon as I get my gun tuned.....
