Looks like you had decent participation and a fun time.

Thanks for giving us a report as it sure puts shooting in perspective for oh so many.

CaptainMal: just wanted to say, you're right about a "fun time."

The Howard Prince Memorial Gun Range is located in the Northeast corner of Louisiana....the postal address is the town of Pioneer, but the closest big town is Oak Grove, about 10 miles away.

You can see that we have shooters come from all over North Louisiana and parts of Mississippi, with very diverse levels of experience and equipment. We only had two female shooters yesterday, but often have more.

Although he wasn't there yesterday, we also have a 91 year old shooter from Hot Springs AR who drives himself down the night before and stays at a motel in Oak Grove. Buddy Hoar is a very competitive shooter, has a great sense of humor and is an inspiration to us all.

You wouldn't find a finer group of men and women who come together to enjoy the sport of shooting, test their equipment and skills and enjoy life at its best. As we say down here in Louisiana: Laissez les bon temps rouler! Let the good times roll!

George

Where is this located? We're from Biloxi MS and would like attend.

Thanks Darrin

Darrin: It's about 10 miles southwest of Oak Grove LA....here's the contact information:

3849 Prince Road
Pioneer, LA 71266-7693
(318) 428-9195

The website and FB page aren't very helpful....but if you're on Facebook we also have a group: Howard Prince Range Bench Rest Shooters.

My email is gtw217@gmail.com if you have more questions. We shoot a total of 20 rounds for score in 4 rounds of 5 each, and the cost is $20 per shooter. We start about 8:30am and are finished before noon.

I'll look that up and give you a shout. We might just show up, we're always looking for more places to shoot BR.

THANKS
Darrin

Two ranges in North LA and they shoot on the same day. 1000 yd FClass range 200 miles to the east. They have benches there, maybe some benchrest shooters talk it up 1000 yd benchrest could be possible. I shoot my benchrest rifle prone.

That would be Long Range Alley near Stonewall in Desoto parish....I've never been over there, but want to check it out.

We recently began an "F Class" style match on the fourth Saturday of the month. We don't have target/pit facilities for true NRA F Class competition, so we've adapted it to our circumstances. We allow senior (65+) to shoot from benches.

I believe there's a range in mid-Arkansas that's trying to start 600 yard BR.

Yes George that's it. Shot there Saturday. Great bunch of people trying to get something going. Pretty good pull target pit area. About 15 minutes south of Shreeveport. Stephen

The range in Desoto Parish is ~150 miles WEST of the range in Pioneer. The 600 yd matches at Pioneer are in northeast LA and Long Range ally is in NW LA. (South of Shreveport).

Understand that James but not everyone lives real close to most ranges. I travel from Alex so about the same driving time either way for me. I am shooting more these days so i'll make it over ya'lls way one day.
