Jim O'hara was correct about VLD bullets.

View attachment 1119010 I just returned from a 300 yard match and the Hammers did not let me down (see picture) . I did not win, but I shot a 297/300 with 4 X's. We shoot 3, 10-shot targets for score only. I messed up on the first target but finished with a pair of 100's. The conditions were HOT with mirage. James Gregory won it with a spectacular 299/300. Neacie Turner(pictured below) started with a pair of 100's but dropped 2 points on the last target for second place finish. We had a visitor in Dusty Stevens and was good to see him again. Here are today's results.
James, you were not the only one shooting the hammers.Looks like the Hammers are the real deal.It is "Hammer Time".
Sure was glad that Dusty got to come down and shoot with us.We had a lot of fun.Hearing yours and Dusty's old war stories was a treat for me.
Thanks to Jeff Turner for running the match and all the officials at the Prince range.

Congratulations James!

I love Hammers! Last year on tuning day at the NBRSA 1000 yd Regionals I shot three consecutive sub 2" three shot groups at 1000 yds with a 6BRA as I tweaked seating depth. That barrel liked them at .014 to .016 jump. I messed up the chamber and got it a bit oversize. Also, it was throated a bit too long for the Hammers as well.

This year I cut an awesome tight chamber with a reamer with less freebore. I had it made specifically to shoot Hammers. However, I am having a hard time getting this barrel tuned. I am tuning at 200 yds and to be competitive at 600 and 1000, the 6BRA needs to shoot five shots groups at 200 yds of 3/8" or better.

I have yet to get better than 1/2" I have tried H4895, Varget, and RL-15. Bullets are jammed .006". I might have a node at around 2875 fps with RL-15 and Varget. It doesn't seem to like a higher node.

I'll have to see if I have any 8208. I also had to change lots of Varget and the new lot is faster.

If all else fails I'll rechamber my Hammer Hummer barrel after this next match. It is only half used up and with a good chamber it won't be a pain to load for.

It’s been to 4 600 yard matches this year. It’s won two 2 Guns, lost the tiebreaker for one (2nd) and a 4th place. So not bad!
That's FANTASTIC Bart!
Have you taken the BRA to a SR (PPC) match to see how it will do?
I am new to SR BR and am tempted to chamber up a dasher for my LV gun. On those windy days, I believe a dasher/BRA with good bullets could show strong!

I’ve not tried the 6BRA for short range! It might work great!

Try BR4 or 400 primers to see if it will shrink things up
