Jim O'hara was correct about VLD bullets.

For a long time, I did not believe that VLD bullets would shoot "zero" groups but would excel at long range because of their ballistic coefficient. Thanks to Bart Sauter, James Eazor, Tom Jacobs, Roy Hunter, and Don Lahr, that has changed. Zero groups at 100 yards are getting more and more common. According to Jim O'hara if one gets good bullets, and load with proper powder (of the right lot) and develop a load with very low extreme spread, he/she can not only shoot "zeroes" at 100 yards but can tune their rifle for 600/1000 yard competition.

We have a 300 yard match tomorrow and I planned to use the occasion to begin my test on the new Sightron SVSS ED 10X-50X. I found that there was not one available but would a couple of weeks before the new shipment came. I decided to shoot this match anyway and had a few loads left over from our last 600 yard match. These were loaded with Bart's Gungnirs, and I shot some of those plus I loaded a few with Hammers for a comparison. Both of these are great bullets. The picture below shows a 3-shot group with each bullet and proves what Jim had stated.

My smallest ever 100yd 3 shot group was with a Cauterucio 141.5gr VLD. It was 0.084". To top it off it was with a Ruger RPR/ LRI med Palma barrel in....wait for it....6.5 Creedmooro_O. Bob made mighty fine bullets and was a very nice guy...may he rest in peace. I have not beat it yet even with a full out F-open rig on better rests and much improved technique. Heck...those VLD's are still 'asleep' at 100yds , right? If you can get 'em to wake up at 50 just think what you'll shoot J.D.!!!:D

So; not being a BR aficionado , and taking assumption from both the OP & the responders writings , these bullets are machined , solid copper bullets ?

Gents, nice shooting! I don't have a bench rest rifle but a tactical rifle with a Harris bipod. This is a 6BR. What size groups are possible? I know ,rifle, reloading, brass prep, bullets etc... Do not want to derail this so PMs are ok. Willing to learn but no one in my area. Thank you. Al

We shoot 3, 10-shot targets for score only. I messed up on the first target but finished with a pair of 100's. The conditions were HOT with mirage. James Gregory won it with a spectacular 299/300. Neacie Turner(pictured below) started with a pair of 100's but dropped 2 points on the last target for second place finish. We had a visitor in Dusty Stevens and was good to see him again.
