Jewell triggers

It’s not that easy.
any time you are dependent on outside sources and manufacturing, there is always the risk of loosing the availability of key parts that could jeopardize production.

I assume that the major components in the trigger were manufactured by EDM. I would think the best option for the product would be for a major manufacturer of triggers such as Timney or Canjar to purchase the design and any patents and make “The Jewell” trigger.

There is a limited market. Especially the Benchrest trigger. Others have come into the market, but at a pretty high price compared to what we were used to paying for the Jewell. However, there is a good argument to be made that they are in fact not as good, especially considering the trouble free function we all enjoyed with Jewel’s through the decades.

If someone does pick up the gauntlet and decide to give it a try, I would figure a $400+ retail for a unit.

Right. In fact, that raises the question of why/how Jewell kept the price of their triggers so low.
I bought one, that was adjustable down, into Ounces, w/ Bolt Release and Safety,.. for $250 ish !
It's on my Rem 700, SS SA, Rem Age, Criterion Barreled, 6 XC and Boy, does it,.. "Shoot" !
Very HAPPY, and thankfull, to have it !
A Timney works Fine, for my other Rem action, .22-250, Varmint Rifle, set at, 1.5 lbs.
I put various trigger "Springs",.. in My Tikka's,.. BUT,. there's nothing quite like,... the "Jewell's"

So many triggers available today. Plus, the flavor of the month is two stage. My first was a Jewell, I now have 7! Never had a failure in 20 years. I've got a Bix competition on one rig and while I like it, I still like the Jewells. Glad I have a spare, wish I'd gotten more when all the typer snipers were bad mouthing them several years ago. There was a member here that was announcing a trigger he had coming to market soon to rival the Jewell. Haven't heard any updates.

Some of my rat bench rifles have Jewells, some have Canjar single set triggers. Who knew 25 years ago both would be considered 'iconic' and into the unobtainium category?

Good to have Timney, Rifle Basix, Jard and the like available, but nothing comes close to what we enjoyed for all those years. We sometimes take for granted what we have, until it's gone.

It’s not just that the market for BR triggers is small, it’s worse than that. There are enough existing completed rifles to satisfy match needs for a long time to come.

We that aren’t new to this are sitting on more than we need for our own matches, and this activity of ours is not likely to appeal more to young adults today, than it did to us or our parents.

My match triggers just don’t wear out. All these existing guns compete against new builds, but when the baby boomers collections fully hit the market, just like when they en masse want all their money out of mutual fund IRA’s, demand is truly going to be soft. They are a pride and joy to possess, but they will outlast us and better to watch a loved one enjoy them, than to have a broker buy the whole lot for peanuts from those overwhelmed relatives that never were allowed to get attached to them.

Did Jewell ever release any kind of statement regarding them disappearing?

I know they had a banner on their site for awhile then poof they were gone.

I feel like they left a lot of people hanging.

I have a number of Jewell triggers I don’t want if I know I’ll never be able to have them repaired if they fail.

Well 4 of my Jewell triggers have needed factory work over my 30 years shooting BR. All but one were new sears and they would peen over, over time. The other was damage due to two pierced primers, not Jewells fault but mine. All in all, I have never wanted for more or better from anyone.

I got one repaired earlier this year after the announcement they were not making any new ones. They answered the phone, said send it in with $45 and I got in back in two weeks. Now they are apparently gonzo.

This surprises me too, I thought there were several members here that are friends of Arnold and the family that would known the whole story.
