jewell trigger turnaround time

Any one sent a trigger back to Jewell lately for repair/replacement lately? Just wondering about their turnaround time. Thanks.

Don't know. I was going to send one back because it wouldn't cock until I figured out to try blowing it out with compressed air. The slightest particle in the mechanism can cause that problem.

If it's a different issue, I can't help.

Easy to completely dis-assemble, check for machining roughness, dirt, oil, etc. re-assemble & set the adjustment screws for both the Benchrest and Hunter models, following the enclosed instruction pages.

I previousely tried flushing with lighter fluid. Sometimes it would work, sometimes not. Had one develop a rough pull, dis-assembled and found a 1/2 piece of stick powder (N133). Removed it, cleaned, re-assembled & it's the usual 3 oz perfect trigger.

The reason I've replaced all my tuned Remington 700 triggers with Jewells and why all my custom receivers carry Jewell triggers.

A Jewell is very easy to take apart. Nothing to jump out and get lost.

Beside the cleaning, it helps to lap the inside of the side plates. 600 paper and a surface plate.

Thanks for the ideas, but I have dis-assembled, cleaned, polished and adjusted. Tried everything there is to try, she just creeps. Sort of like having a two stage trigger, which is not what I want. Just curious if the turn around time is reasonable or not.

Ben,

I had the same problem after I changed to a lighter pull screw. I originally had 8 oz pull and changed to a 3 oz pull. After following the adjustment directions I discovered a couple things:

1. When you turn the first screw in until the rifle "fires" you only need to back the screw out about 1/3 of a turn, give or take a little, not the 3/4 turn. Obviously, you'll want to experiment with this to ensure you don't have slam fires!

2. When applying the pull during setting the second screw, use a LIGHT pull, not a gorilla pull. Basically enough to take up the "slack" and a bit more.

My HVR went from CREEPY to CRISP and it's SWEET!

I bet that will fix you right up.

I sent an AR trigger back and it took weeks to get it fixed with more excuses than a car salesman. They wait till they have a bunch in for service and only work on them once a week.Very poor response if you ask me.I am avoiding buying any more jewells just for that one reason. It is sad they just dont seem to care anymore.

I had one that was acting like a "two stage" trigger and for a 2oz trigger that ain't going to cut it . I called and was told to send it in and it would take about 2 wks . I called in 2 wks to see where we were and it was done and ready to be shipped back . I think if you're polite and ckeck on them in 2wks you'll get a totally rebuilt/reworked trigger as good as new - worth it to me .

I've had quite a few Jewell triggers and never had a problem. But if you want to try something else, I have a Kelbly trigger on my HV rifle and like it a lot. No safety or bolt release available AFAIK, though.
