Jewell Trigger question

I am having some issues with my Jewell Trigger on my HG,..,BAT "L" 2" x 10". I have a spare, but it it has a top safety and bottom bolt release for a Remington 700. Can the "extras" be stripped off for use without a safety or bolt release?

Or should I just order another "Plain Jane" trigger and have this one looked at when the new one arrives.

I would love to try a Bix N Andy, but I have spent a pile of $$$ getting "re started" in this game....need to slow down a bit.

Thanks,
Tod

The body of your trigger is the same, its just the
options on your trigger that makes it different.
Before taking parts off your trigger, I would call
Jewell to find out if any shims may be needed to
compensate for the missing parts.
You can reach JEWELL @ 512-353-2999.
If you decide on a new Jewell, all models are in stock.
I want to be your Jewell Trigger dealer. LDS

Have you tried flushing your trigger with lighter fluid? It may just be a little trash.

I have not yet.....but.....whenever i go to shoot, the first time at the bench each day, the trigger will not pull...it's like a solid chunk of steel...and I need to cycle the bolt a bunch of times and thenn take it out of the gun and tap on it before I can get the trigger to pull.

A flush may work, but I have a match this weekend and need the gun.

All you have to do is take it out of the stock and run zippo lighter fluid on it. Flush it real good and cycle the action. You can flush it in the stock but to me your not going to flush all the areas good. Plus I don't like chemicals on my stock or bedding. The lighter fluid will evaporate. While you are at it you might want to clean your bolt also.

Hi Tod, - I don't claim to be a Jewell Trigger Guru but I had a similar instance happen to me on a Jewell with a bottom Safety.

I found out that the over-travel adjustment was causing it and it needed to be flushed as well. - I had the over-travel set to tight and that was the cause for the bind that I was in. - After a good flushing, possibly try setting the trigger from scratch (Set trigger weight a little heavier, add plenty of over-travel & some more sear engagement) - I don't have the instructions but I know there is a link to them on the internet.

And I wouldn't hesitate to get yourself a spare trigger - just in case - for the future.

My last Jewell wouldn't fire either. Luckily it was a fitment issue with the stock. A little stock Dremel work and she was fine.

According to Jewell, you are supposed to use "CHARCOAL" lighter fluid (used for BBQ's). Not regular lighter fluid for cigarette lighters.

I've always used Coleman fuel to clean trigger groups as it has an added rust inhibitor & cost per gallon is(was) 2x the cost of 4oz of lighter fluid.
