Jewell trigger problem

I installed a Jewell trigger in a Winchester Model 70 push feed action. It went in easily. However, the safety won't engage. When I put the original trigger back, the safety works properly. Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

I found out that the Jewell trigger sear does not hold the firing pin back far enough to allow the safety to engage. Does anyone know if the Tubb fireing pin will take care of the problem?

I talked to the people at Jewell. They told me I need to replace the cocking piece and grind the new one down to fit. Thanks for the help.

The new trigger is not holding the firing pin back far enough so the cam on the saftey can engage. Take the fireing pin out & file a little off where the safety engages. You don't need any new parts. The hard part is compressing the firing pin spring. I made a deal that goes in my loading press to do this. Most guys just grab the spring with a side cutters, press down & squeeze holding the spring back to change the retainer. If you have any experince working on guns you can do it. Other wise take it to a gunsmith.
