Jewell customer service

So after my trigger starts pulling erratic, I take it off my rifle, and send it back to Jewell. That was back in January. My rifle builder said that it would just show up one day. I found Jewell's number, and have called over and over, but it just rings. Is this really how Jewell treats it's customers? My #1 rifle is sitting in the safe without a trigger.

In years past Tommy in the service dept over there would work on my AR15 trigger (twice) and I'd have it back in about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks.

Perhaps Jewell hasd been subjected to the same hectic atmosphere as many other suppliers. If folks have been buying AR15's like there's no tomorrow, and have also been buying Jewell replacement AR15 triggers by the hundreds, then I'll bet Jewell will be kept plenty busy with returns of those fussy triggers alone.

Have you taken it apart and cleaned it? After that, have you adjusted it according to your instructions that came with the trigger?

I've posted elsewhere here regarding 2 new Jewell's breaking
and the concern that the "new" production are not as robust;even to having inferior metallurgy.
Having called the Texas number numerous times only to hear a recorded"message box is full",I am hoping to get either an email address or eventually they'll start answering the phone.
My "old" production Jewell's continue to impress ,but until I see a way of getting some customer service,my future purchases and recommendations go elsewhere.
FWIW I would never just mail a product back to a manufacturer without first speaking to them and arranging repair and return details. When you can't communicate directly, something is off.

I dropped my trigger off at the Jewell shop few weeks ago for some work. They over promised and under delivered on the turnaround time, but they did answer the phone when I called, except during lunch when I got their voicemail (12-1 central time).

Jewell fix

I have two Jewell triggers on bench-rest guns and I've had both of them fail to cock (thank God only during practice sessions at home). The first time it happened, I could not get it to cock at all, so I came in the house and took it apart (for the first time) and inspected it. I could not see anything amiss, so I put it back together, adjusted it per the instructions and it worked fine after that. When it happened again with the same trigger a few weeks later, I came inside expecting to have to take it apart again, but during the course of handling the gun it started cocking again. That left me wondering.

When I got my second trigger (built a new gun), I was surprised when it did the same thing within the first month. I was inquiring into returning it to Jewell when I got to thinking about it. The sear engagement is so slight that the tiniest particle in the mechanism in the right place could cause it not to catch. I took it out in the garage and blew compressed air through it. I was right! That fixed it. I had one more instance where the same thing happened, confirming my foreign particle theory.

Any time you have a bullet pulled out by the lands upon cartridge extraction and spill powder in the gun, you run a high risk of getting a particle in the trigger. Discovering this also confirmed the wisdom of never putting any lubricant inside the trigger (which I had never done). Lubricants would tend to collect those small particles and hold them inside.

I've also learned to arrange my preparatory steps in such a way as to never spill powder in the gun. That's always a b**ch of a cleanup job anyway.
