Jewel triggers customer service

The issue is not bumping the stop, its slamming the bolt handle down. I did not measure either trigger weight. I adjust them as light as I can without them slam firing. The Bix ends up significantly lighter. On my f-class gun I like some feel to the trigger maybe 4-6oz. In that use the Jewell is all you would need.

I keep my Jewells very clean and only adjust them as Jewell recommends. I have never had a slam fire or misfire.

I've been using Jewel BR triggers since 2001. Never broke one and never had a slam or misfire.
Have one that has been fired no less then 40,000 times and has been on 3 different actions.
On a note: I do want to give a Bix&Andy a try. I respect Alex's input to them....

I blueprinted a new Jewell today. I set the weight to 1.357 oz and it was soooo smooth and light. Did the bump test and slammed the bolt it never slam fired... trigger is happy! :)

People that keep asking how to measure that trigger pull- i actually can test down lower than 1oz and test repeatability so I know what triggers can do what. If youd like to be able to test them as well and just see how inconsistent the newer jewells are you need to call long island indicator and buy a correx tension gauge. You need the smaller version with the ball tip in the 5 to 150cn range. 150cn is A shade over 5.3oz. Now you can actually test instead of speculate as to how good your trigger really is. And itll show other issues as well but thats a different story.

Ray: I had a guy next to me using a brake on a big boomer, and the side blast set the trigger off when I had 1 oz. Another time I gently closed the bolt (as I always do), and had to gently slide the rifle forward to the forend stop. I normally go to the stop before closing the bolt, this time I did not. When the forend contacted the stop, the rifle went "bang", for a hit in the 8 ring, when I was on my way to a win with nothing but 10's and X's 'til then. I ended up in fourth or fifth place on that one.

After those 2 incidents, they were all increased to the before mentioned 3 to 4 oz. That was several years ago, & have never had an unintentional discharge since.

When bumping the gun on the rest stop, the trigger moves forward, not rearward, so that should not make it go off.

Good Call ERIK, I was wondering if anyone caught that story? His finger probably got in the way while sliding the gun forward on the rest.
