Jard Triggers

Have any of you used a Jard trigger on your 700 Rem? I have seen them advertised and sold through Brownells, Midway and such but have never heard any comments on them. I have one my AR and it is a huge improvement over the factory standard trigger.
Comments please.

I only use Jewell`s on my Remington`s .........BUT Jard is the only game in town for Coopers, and all of my Coopers wear them.

I really like them on the rifles that have them, for what that`s worth.....

I have JARD triggers on two Remingtons. Both function perfectly, and when correctly adjusted are dead on the specified pull weight. That being said, the adjustment process took me a couple of tries to get right. Assembly is easy enough: use your original trigger housing and transplant the JARD parts. It's a matter of minutes. However, from the standpoint of simplicity, Jewell triggers are faster but a lot more expensive. It depends on how comfortable you are with the replacement and setup process involved with the JARD. I would buy another JARD if I needed it.

I have a spare Remington trigger assy from an older rifle and I have been thinking about the parts kit and overhaul process. I think I can do it. You never know until you try. The AR trigger was also kind of tricky to get adjusted but when it happened, to me, it is a great trigger.
I know that the Jewell is the gold standard of triggers, but a little pricey. I have a Rifle Basicx on another Rem but not overly impressed with it. Just weighing the other options.

Upon further review, reviews on the Brownell and Midway site were not too encouraging. Think I'll go in another direction.

Why make something more expensive than it has to be? I am not telling anyone to work on his trigger or suggesting that they buy anything in particular, but I will report that with a simple spring replacement, and some tuning, i was able to reduce my 700 trigger pull to a safe 1#, and it passes the bump, slap, and safety tests. I have met a whole slew of fellows who were avid shooters, and should never mess with a trigger. I have done my own work for years, and am very experienced in tuning and adjusting Remington triggers. If you have never worked on one, it is probably best if a gunsmith does the work for you.

Thanks Boyd. There was a thread on the stuff Ernie had a bit ago and I had looked at his springs just before I saw your post. That looks like another good option.

I have 2 shilens and the ones I have are as crisp as any trigger I have owned. They drop in and you have to reuse your remmy safety on one model. It is not that hard to change. They cost around 90.00 at brownells.
