Jard Trigger

I'm looking to change out a trigger on one of my hunting rifles and was going to put a Timney on it, I then saw the Jard trigger and it caught my interest. Anyone using Jard triggers? Any input would be appreciated. Better / worse?

I have had a couple in my Coopers...

Sold all but 1 Cooper and it still has the Jard in it...

I like them,not Jewell like them,but they are better than a factory Cooper trigger to me.....

Doesnt timney make a trigger for the mark x? I would lean that way if possilbe if they make them.

i tried the timmney on a herters mkx i believe was the model and had a very difficult time finding a trigger sear that would work...i ended up sending the timmney back after trying 3 different sears that they sent me and nothing worked...needless to say i just put the original trigger back on it...good luck with what ever you buy...seems like not all 98 sportirized mausers are the same

Frank ( 40X ) and i did some trading awhile back and i ended up with an AR that had a Jard single stage trigger in it. Super trigger it was in the AR and would recommend 1 for them. As far as a bolt gun......i have no feedback on those as i have not had 1 in a bolt rifle. For bolt rifles i use Jewell and Shilen triggers all the time. They both are super triggers.

Hi, I put a Timmey on my mark x and it didn't work out. Tried every thing and customer support. I can't recommend the Timmey on a mark x. I do have a Jard on two ar-15 and like them. I don't have the jard on a bolt gun.

I have a Timney on another 98 & I THINK that your issues might be that the trigger is either set up for the standard cocking piece (military) or the speedlock cocking piece. More than likely, a cocking piece change would cure it. The Timney that I have does have a speedlock cocking piece which is about 1/8" shorter travel but needs a 26# spring. It operates correctly but I'm just looking for something a little better so I have a Jard on order to try.

I have a JARD trigger in a Kimber Pro-84 Varmint in 22-250. It works well and I would buy another. I also have a timney in two savage rifles (prior to the accutrigger). I like them. I can't say that there is a tremendous difference between them. they are both very adjustable. I have all of them set to around 12-16 oz. I also have a timney drop in trigger in an AR. I picked JARD for the Kimber because I couldn't find many replacement options, but would definitely consider them again.

I ended up buying the Jard to try one. Just got done installing it & it is a very nice trigger. Super easy to adjust, only took a few minutes to have it adjusted for sear engagement & overtravel. About as idiot proof as I have seen, never a bad thing Smooth & pre-set at 22 oz.

Old post I know but I was just wanting to give my experience with a savage jard trigger for my 110. I've installed several triggers on savages and tuned several all with success. I liked the concept of the different sear location on this design and since it's the only 1 made for savage that way, thought it might be a bright idea. Still think it might be if made properly and stronger sear sprIngs, but the one I received in the mail had a slightly twisted sear where it engages the trigger. Also the whole sear assembly looks slightly bent although the holes for the trigger and sear pins do line somewhat, but then again there these holes were much smaller than the savage factory pins so they won't fit. Instead of modyfing sear in case I needed to send back, I replaced the pins with smaller diameter drill rod. In the end everything went together and installed the way it should, but after installing noticed it was in a complete bind and didn't pivot or reset itself at all upon cocking. The step on their trigger didn't line up with their sear engagement piece by a long shot and the unit seems so much bigger than the orig sear it looks like u would need a more powerful or dual sear sprIngs to get it to cock correctly. I wouldn't recommend and I'm even having trouble getting ahold of their customer service dept via email so today I'm going to try and call. Anyways just saw there wasn't much info on the net from ppl on them for the savages so wanted to share mine.

I have Jard triggers in two AR rifles. Both are good triggers. Adjustable, clean and crisp. Not quite a Guissele match
trigger, but not $300.00 either. Well worth the price.

I have a two Jard triggers. One with no safety in a Mauser 98 and one on a 24/47 Mauser with safety. Both have proven to be fantastic. Easy installation and adjustment. Crisp 14 oz. single stage with no creep. One of the features that I like above the Timney is the actual shape of the trigger blade. Much straighter, less curve.

How heavy do you think a JARD could be set? I'm interested in one and it is a hunting rifle for me but the factory 2 screw trigger isn't cutting it. I have a Timney on the way but I am drawn to the JARD because of those that seem to have got it to work, love them. Everyone else doesn't seem to have successfully installed them for one reason or another. I figure I'd order from Brownells for easy return if needed. There just isn't much info about them floating around.

Everyone talks up the SSS but their reputation to produce is awful, no one has them in stock, and I am absolutely not ordering from them direct.
