JARD SAVAGE TRIGGER

OK, going to revive this with a simple question; Specifically ,has anyone installed the Jard trigger on a per accutrigger 110 and NOT installed the OME safety ?
Reasona;
1. The trigger would be going on a 110 action set up for single shot only.
2. Reading comments here and on Savage Shooters, using the OME safety seams to
cause some problems ?

Baddog0302,

I am running this configuration. It will work just fine without the safety installed.

Trigger is whats been holding the Savage PTA back.
You are correct, however, many other companies have stepped up to the plate accuracy wise and also offer decent triggers and much smoother actions at a comparable or lower price point. Savage needed this 20 yrs ago.

OK, name some names and list some prices

Ruger America, any of the TC, Tika, Mossberg all accurate, equal or in some cases much better triggers, same price range, here are some prices from a current add from a retailer in my area.....TX3 Light 549.00, Compass 259.00, Venture 299.95, American 299.95, Howa 299.95

The Tikka T3 is very nice action and triggers are very good as is for a hunting rifle.
I ended up with one last year I traded a bow for and have been impressed with it so far.

The comments about other rifles is all well and fine fellas, but this thread is about the JARD SAVAGE TRIGGER. I think most of us who have and are interested in one, want it for a suitable BR trigger. I'm not going to buy a Tikka hunting rifle for BR. And there are plenty of suitable triggers for Savage hunting rifles, including the factory offerings with a little massaging.

I am still bothered by the creep in My Jard. I am wondering if it can be reduced by drilling, tapping, and installing an adjustment screw in the Jard replacement safety bar, like the stock Savage trigger has? This adjustment is important to the proper operation of a stock Savage trigger. The bar may be too hard to drill, I don't know. And there's the other option of modifying the Savage bar, to make the 3 position safety work.

I am quite willing to use the Jard trigger for BR use, without the safety installed, but I feel it may be necessary to help adjust the creep out?

Jim Baker, Administrator of Savage Shooters, has done a review of this trigger. I don't think He has shot it yet? I'm looking forward to that. He mentioned He may have Fred Morrow (Sharp Shooter Supply), time and true the action the trigger is installed in. It would be interesting to see what Fred thinks of the Jard trigger, since He has so much experience in that area.

Thanks...lets here from more users of the latest Jard Savage Trigger

I have a Jard on a 700, it's very crisp, works well. I hope it works for the Savage guys.
I just got it in and holy cow. I had done some voodoo to my factory accutrigger to get pull weight under 2lbs and to get the break to be clean but I was never really happy with that as when outside the chassis, any bolt close causes the striker to drop so it's not possible to safety test it outside the chassis. Anyone who'd ever shot my rifle commented on how light and crisp the trigger was after you got the center blade back and that was partly accomplished by making it ride the razors edge of safe/not-safe. People are not used to standard Savage triggers not being a little heavier than they could be. You can try to find a Savage Target Action trigger but that's fraught since they don't just sell them (last I checked they were finicky about direct sales of any fire control group parts to non-FFL's). The world of aftermarket triggers for savage has never been that great either and it's all because of the weird Savage sear and the side locking setup (most bolt action rifle sears are under the bolt, Savage 10's sear are to the right of the bolt). If you can't replace the sear then the trigger will never be much better than the factory trigger.

Well, Jard Inc. some time back introduced their Savage 3-lever drop-in trigger which does include the sear and HOLY CRAP is it good. I mean, out of the box it's got some long creep like Joe Biden in a preschool but once you adjust the sear engagement and the over travel it stands up and shines. Then you get to the pull weight adjustment and you remember what a really really good trigger with no overtravel, no take-up, no creep and a glass rod break feels like.

I got the 13-18oz model as I would like it under a pound but not that far under. Right now it's set at max and it still feels pretty light. I'll probably take a few more ounces off the pull weight after I have some time to get to be friends with the new trigger but I'm pretty happy right now.
