Jags...Brass or nickel plated?

I'm looking for a set of rifle jags and have narrowed it down to the Tipton brand. They have 2 types, brass and nickel plated. I'm leaning toward brass so it doesn't damage the bore if it comes in contact with it. But the nickel plated jags won't give a false positive by reacting to the solvent.

Both would work and maybe I'm making a big deal out of nothing. Any opinions on which set would be better?

Thanks

If a false positive sends you to the curb stick with the nickel. If you can get by knowing when your barrel is clean by not worrying about patch color then the brass is good

I use brass simply because it is what I have always used. Pretty much all Dewey rods and jags with a few odd flavors in the lot, including Tipton stuff. My only observation using brass is when using really strong copper solvents I get really clean jags. :) Since brass is copper and zinc I figure that is to be expected and it has never been an issue. :) Seriously while I never gave the choices any thought I doubt it matters.

I recommend Dewey Copper Eliminator Jags and brushes. All aluminum, wont confuse decoppering work, and the aluminum is unlikely to scratch a barrel.

I use plastic jags.

The past several years I've been using a 22 cal. plastic jag for cleaning bores up to 30 cal. I cut my own patches to suit the bore.

I use Parker-Hale style brass jags. False positive isn't really confusing the issue and the PH style wraps a patch around the jag for a more even pressure to the bore and a longer cleaning surface. Just have to go up a size or two in patches.
ie. .22cal jag uses .30cal patches and .308 jag uses a 45cal patch wrapped/rolled around it like a paper towel roll.
This gives you almost 2" of cleaning contact rather than the usual of 3/4" to 1".

I've also noticed that with the extra long bearing area, they NEVER grab at the muzzle or breach end when partially protruding. I have the factory Dewey jags that came with the rods and a Tipton kit as well as others, but they generally suck compared to the PH...YMMV.
