Jackie Schmidt Wins 200 Yard VFS At Tomball

We had an absolutely beautiful day in Tomball to shoot our first 200 yard Varmint for Score Match of the season.

We had really light conditions for Match One and Two, but from Three through Five it turned into Tomball, with twitchy winds and lots of mirage. We had a turnout of 21 shooters.

Jackie Schmidt won the Match with a “clean” 250 8x, Larry Savadres came in 2d with a 249 6 X, and Jim Moore was third with a 248
8x.
Thanks to the Tomball Gun Club and Match Director Richard Pullum for their efforts.

Jackie won the money shot with a (almost) perfect “pinwheel”.View attachment 1643208View attachment 1643209
congratulations

Jackie which way did you go with the tuner to get the horizontal tune out of it?
Either way, but this time clockwise.
The object is to do something if you sense the rifle is not quite right. The rifle was really close, many would simply say they were just missing the push. But that horizontal tune can be a killer at 200 yards.

One of the key aspects of keeping a rifle on the spot is recognizing that there is something not quite right. If you don’t have a tuner, you can maybe go in or out with the seating dept. but that doesn’t help you while you are at the bench shooting.

That’s one thing that all of these “Gurus” who have fancy You tube videos telling their subscribers that tuners don’t work. Maybe they don’t in their Discipline, but in Short Range Score, it can be an option.

Thank you Sir I have so much to learn! I've only been shooting for about 3 years myself so I like to learn from other good Shooter's like yourself. Thanks for your response.
