I have a link to it saved on my home screen I read it over and over.

That,s a good thread But....
A lot of us don't use those type of dies.
A lot of us use dies that are in the top of the press like reloading dies instead of the ones Al uses.
You can also go to Cast Boolits /gunloads .com There s a lot of information there For plinker, hunting bullets.

Unless one has sophisticated technology involved in bullet making aka Sierra Bullets for instance.....don't think you're gonna get rich making bullets! It's a slow, meticulous process if done correctly! I made .30 caliber match bullets for years and wore myself out doing it. It reached the point whereby I was spending more time at the presses than I did on the range and after wearing out my shoulder joints and back....I quit! :( :(

I would agree I myself would probably go with dies from George Ulrich
But the process and the pics showing each step and the comments added by Randy R. and others on the thread by Al. I MO are priceless
I personally have no aspiration to make bullets for profit. Maybe for myself one day

It makes no difference whether the dies are vertical, horizontal or at 45 degrees, and the dies don't all look the same either. My Niemi dies run vertical as well as my Pindell dies but they won't inter change in the same press.

Thank you all for the information.....the article is for a friend of mine who is trying to resolve an issue with length dimensions and over excursion of effort needed while pointing ~Steve

Warren Page points this out in his book," The Accurate Rifle". Handmade bullet making is not the road to riches. Especially today with the high costs of good jackets and lead wire. I know I've been making my bullets since 1954. However, the end result is if you know what you're doing and pay strict attention to all of the details, and have top notch dies, you should be able to turn out bullets from batch to batch more accurate and consistent than the mass produced ones. I've proven this many times over the years.
When Ferris Pindell was the head tool & die maker at Sierra, he had the pick of the litter of bullets, but still made his own. Ferris once said he would rather take a good beating than go into the shop to make bullets. He once told me a good hand made bullet should always reduce your group size if you do your part.

That,s a good post about bullet making.

Ferris was right on all counts
It is a lot of work and even more if you make them to sell to others. Good dies cost quite a bit these days.

Jacket prices are really up and so is good lead wire. shipping is taking it's toll also.

If you are making them just for yourself it doesn't seem tedious but making them to sell , wow that's a bear.
