Jack-In -The-Box

Have any of you guys had any experience with the Foxpro Jack In The Box?

I saw a really great video with a guy using one today.

Worth a 100 bucks?

Jeff,

I might just do that...

We will give it a try at the Nats in Raton this year.

I also have a place we can shoot PD's on the way home from the Nats.

Good to hear from you, look forward to seeing you again.

Chuck

I bought one with my 532B and it works great, but to be honest with you,as long as there is even a slight breeze where you are calling a couple turkey feathers tied to a stick by your caller will net the same results which is the dogs attention fixed to a single point.Smearing just a little trapping lure on the JIB decoy or feathers and keeping them in a ziplock until used also occupies another one of thier defenses.

Ive got a jar of a paste type bait made by Hawbakers.I believe its based on the smell of,I guess, rotting meats. If youve never used it before,a little goes a very long ways, just smear a very little bit on one spot of the intended decoy.Whatever you do keep the jar and decoy in ziplocks and dont bring it in the house around your wife.:D

Chuck,

I use to have a Jack in the Box along with an FX 3. I sold them both.

I carry enough stuff into the field as it is and those items are bulky and start getting heavy by the end of the day.

I'm not knocking Fox Pro though, they make some great high quality stuff.

I do have a Whirrling Woodpecker decoy though that I bought to lure bobcats. Haven't got a cat with it yet but it sure gets the attention of yotes and it weights less than a can of soda!

I still like my hand calls best.

FYI on the JIB decoy . . . don't use it if you are making any canine distress sounds . . . I've been busted twice doing that. They do not like the looks of the decoy when they are coming to a canine distress sound, for whatever reason. IMO, it's really not quite worth the $100, but that's one guy's opinion.
Good luck,
~Scott
