J lock question

I have a old j lock bolt I am redoing to a standard bolt ..I put a new shroud and spring in it but the firing pin seems longer? Are they? When the bolt is cocked the pin is sticking out of the shroud a little long. Any help?

J Lock is on the stainless, from a 700 LVSF appox. 2005 mfg.
The blued non j lock is from a 700 BDL appox 1974 mfg.
The j lock model does have a longer bolt shroud. But the firing pins themselves seem to be the same length. Hope this helps

I put a new spring from PT&G that is about 1/2" shorter the the factory j lock spring and a new shroud from PT&G and the spring is still all bunched up like the j lock spring was.

There is a well known place that people on this site send there bolts to have the firing pin bushed (Can't remember the sites name).

One of there options is to have a new spring of their design installed that get's rid of the original "Bunched" spring.
Not sure if it calls for one of there modified firing pins or not. If any one here can name the place you could go and read about it and the cost.

Do you not see the difference in the shape and diameter of the 2 firing pins underneath the springs?

I only have one pin...is that the deal ..I need to get a new pin as well?

Your probably talking about Ger-Tan.

Gre Tan Rifles.

Complete assy is like $75.00. I replaced a J lock on my .204 with one. Very nice workmanship, no issues with it.
