J. Lederer Barrels

See my posts above for some history on the J. Lederer barrel I purchased on a used rifle in December. I've had a chance to test this barrel and it is shooting fantastic. I shot my first matches with it in early May and while it held vertical very well (even my 5s were waterline...ND wind dontcha know) at long range, it was hard to really gauge how good it could perform under "normal" conditions. Well mid-May I started to put it through its paces in more humane conditions. I used it for 5 matches over 4 weekends mid-May to mid-June and it won all of them.

2016 Sierra Cup winner
2016 MN Fullbore Championship Overall winner
2016 MN LR Regional Gold Medal
2016 ND Palma State Championship 1st Place
2016 ND Long Range State Championship 1st Place

So I'm VERY happy with this barrel, and will get another one. In preparation for that, I took the barrel off after my last match mid-June to have it measured at the GS. It returned to me yesterday and I screwed it back on. I was curious to see if it would shoot the same so I tested it this morning. Here is a 5 shot group at 300 yds that I did to reverify my load and get scope zeroed.

Sorry about the turned picture text, but for whatever reason on my new computer, OnTarget is rotating my pictures. The V and H values are therefore swapped. 5-shots in a 1/2in x 1/2in CTC hole. That's as good as I can do from a bipod.

While I may regret it when I have to wait longer, I felt like I should weigh in here to give everyone a heads-up and highlight my experience with one of these barrels. James makes good stuff...

That match was in Moffit, ND. I'm told that only 3 of the 40ish shooters kept all 60 shots on the target at 1000 yds that day. It was nasty even by ND standards. Today was very little wind and the 300 yd group shows it. Drew

James can be a bit modest at times. James is incredible smart. James built the machines he uses in his shop. Yep, James made the rifling machines in his shop. I don't know any other barrel maker that can do what James has done.
I have chambered several of James barrels and they all have been shooters.
James is a stand up fella, and I always enjoy talking with him when I see him. Lee
