J&B Bore treatment

??? :o :-\I used it last night on my Savage Barrel, but I started out wrong forgot the oil so I quickly cleaned out the barrel, but I had done about 10 strokes. But I noticed as I was cleaning the barrel from non oiled episode the patches felt quite smooth for 14in then hard pushing. OK after the 1st episode I oiled the barrel and done the JB treatment working on the 1st 14in 1st, then the whole barrel 30 strokes total, I tell you the barrel is sparkling cleaN I hope I didn't ruin the barrel. OK know you guys can ream me for what I done wrong LOL

Congratulations you have just risen above all the internet BS that you can keep gun clean with a nylon brush and bore cleaner. You haven't hurt the barrel at all, I think it does more damage to run bullet after bullet down a dirty barrel, that is copper and carbon fouled rather than use some JB every now and then. Hay but that's just me, I'am not an internet sensation.

I do clean my gun quite often, 20 to 30 shots and less, I use wipeout seems to work great, But it has never been sparkling though, looks like super chrome hope it shoots good. I mean I pull off a .25 group ever once n while shooting for fun, Gettin ready to rebarrel and hopefully shoot some 1000yd benchrest next yr, thanks for the reassurance I needzit

I used the Speedy Gonzales method how do you guys apply the compound? I have heard a truckload of different ways, I used a 22 PH Jag with 2in patch it formed nice and tight and made a nice lookin button type patch seemed to fit good, not real tight not to loose.

Has anyone tried the Bore Tech Chameleon Gel, it is their answer to J-B and Iosso. I used my borescope to check a barrel of a friend who had done what he thought was a good cleaning job but I found it still had both carbon and copper fouling. I then gave him some Bore Tech Chameleon Gel which I had purchased but not yet used. He followed the Bore Tech instructions cleaning the barrel and then he had me borescope it again and I found the barrel to be very clean. I have always had excellent results with Bore Tech products and will be trying their Gel in the future. I have been using both J-B and Iosso with good results.
