I've Created a Monster

My wife went with me and shot in her first 600 Yard F-Class match at Whitehorse Range's Snowball Fun Match in WV over the weekend. On her very first target ever and first time ever shooting over 200 yards she shoots a 199-10X'S. After that relay she asked me how I deal with it when I shoot a 9??? Now most would think that would be a dig but it wasn't. She truly was upset when she shot a 9. She thought she should have cleaned her target and should do it every time. She had a little bit of a reality check on her second relay when she got into some switchy winds and still shot a 190-3X. As you would assume I was very proud of her and how well she shot.

She said she wants to go back and beat her scores!

I've created a monster!

It should make getting away for the weekend easier!

We still have 3 kids at home and 2 are pretty young so it’ll be hard for her to get out to a lot of matches but she’s already planning some grand parents trips for the kids. Unfortunately the closest mid range or long range match is about 4-4.5 hours away from us.

Our oldest 11 year old will start shooting short range this year. I think she’s going to be a better shot than all of us. We’re almost done with her 6BR.
Watch out for pics of her gun real soon!

Here’s a sneak peak of my daughters short range gun. @Hoodoo hooked me up with a 1-13” Lilja barrel for it. It’s going to be a 6BR. @BartsBullets hooked me with some his awesome 68 Gr bullets. We will have the barrel on it by this weekend. I figured we’d build her a short range gun since those matches are closer to home.

Maybe you could stay with the kids while she goes to the matches....

Women being more deliberative and intentional in their actions, and actually listening to instruction, often make better shooters than men. Male musculature is actually a hindrance to good shooting.

Women, because of their hip structure, and shorter (on average) upper torso also have a significant advantage in off-hand / standing rifle shooting.
