Its really winter now!

Your pics brought back some fine memories ,I miss being able to fish on the ice . These pics were from Lake Champlain on the NY/VT border ...it was 20 below zero that day and 20-30 mph winds brought it down to 30- 40 below . Tip-ups would disappear from sight within minutes with the drifting . You can kinda get an idea the cold from the pics.

That's rough'n it,I need a shelter and heat.

That was taken a time ago ... It is where you cross at Rouse's Point VT/NY (Kelly Bay)... Great fishing there, never had luck timing the weather though.Always cold and windy .

Yeah I know it well, crossed the old bridge for years paying a Toll, stopped work in Swanton and they built a Free Bridge.
Glad you got enjoy our winter wonder land!

I live NE NY and go to VT/Burlington a few times a year,we could take the ferry but like the drive better...sometimes down the highway from Swanton, sometimes Grand Isle . Beautiful area.

Since I moved to western PA from CNY I have had to adjust, so to speak, to the "SEVERE weather" they advertise here in Pittsburgh...pfffft. Last week we had 1/4 inch of snow and 3 inches of salt. Bunch of sissies.

My bride shoveled 24 inches off her car in NY. Or so she says...I keep telling her it is "really cold here". ;)

Ain’t the cold nor the amount of snow that’s bad... it’s the seemingly endless number of cloudy days! No worries, I’m movin soon!

Monday was a good day to hunt, single degree temps, but wind under 10 mph. Saw two pairs of bedded sleeping(for the most part) coyote. One was mangy, they fidget and may see you. Shot all four, really liking the new suppressed Lilja 22-250 barrel. Head shoot the first of the pair, second only goes a short distance and stops.

We went into a 10 hour freeze last night and early this morning here in North Florida. 9:45 am, 38* feels like 30*. My Chocolate Lab Penny is at my feet, I'm sitting in my recliner, drinking coffee and watching a little Fox News before I start my reloading for a couple -3 days of shooting this week.

Life is good.

My wife and I are both farm kids. Her farm was very rural Iowa more so than ours. They lived on an east west road and sometimes it would be 3 to 4 weeks before the road was plowed but the plow did clean the north / south road. The only way they could get to school was for her, her sister and brother to go out to the barn saddle horses then ride to the neighbors farm on that north south road about a half mile away. They always took the biggest horses because their bellies would be dragging snow all the way, once they got there they put the horses in the barn, unsaddled and hopped the school bus. She actually had a lot of fun and loves horses.

Jon, stay warm, brother. Bet it's at least as cold as Idaho.

Have visited Stanley and the Sawtooths twice; spectacular area. Visited the Hatchery, stayed at Redfish Lake Lodge, hiked up to Alpine Lake, horsebacked the trails above Stanley, and hiked Fish Hook Creek trail. Whitewater rafted the Payette River as well, but not sure I could take that cold water again.
Hope to go again someday.
