It’s 6:30am. Anyone else standing in line to get into the grocery store?

8CA44DC3-2E25-4237-9D9C-F6EEA78D114A.jpeg I got here about 20 minutes ago. The place opens at 8am. With my work hours and the grocery store’s reduced hours, this is the only way I can get the things that disappear early.

Anyway- meet the two smartest people in line. I can’t believe I didn’t think to bring a folding chair.

We’ve been fortunate in that our local HEB has been well stocked, not crowded, and very clean regardless of when we visit. A very impressive operation!

I'm not sure of your age, but our local Wal-Mart has a policy of opening @ 6:00a.m. on Tuesdays for Seniors only. That is, from 6-7 on Tue., Seniors only.
They don't "card us" at the door, but it works pretty well. The other 6 days a week, they open at 8 a.m.

Good Luck!

HEB is great. There’s an article about them on the Texas Monthly website. They were better prepared for this than most other stores. They began running simulations for this something like 15 years ago, the last time there was an outbreak in Asia. They were able to put there ideas into action when Houston was flooded a few years ago.

Another great article from Texas Monthly: Grilled Ribeyes With Pomegranate Cream Sauce.

DAMN that sauce is good! It’s enough to feed an army, though. Cut the recipe in half, or less. Also, put in the Pomegranate Molasses after the heat is turned off. It’s easy to scorch, otherwise.

Up here in rural SD, it isn't bad. They have the ropes for herd management, but haven't seen an actual line. My daughter works at Walmart as a "personal shopper" for online orders. They are booked up about 2 days out. So look into those options for stores that offer it.
Hope this is over soon, but we need to be patient in the mean time.

Had a refrigerator water line go south. Went to Home Depot site, ordered and paid for a new one to be picked up at the store. There were two lines, one for regular shoppers and one for pickup orders. There was a lady at the door, telling people when it was ok to enter. There's a limit of 50 people at a time in the store.

Dang! I haven't been out in almost 2 weeks. My daughter takes care of all outside stuff. But, we are moving and all my loading stuff is packed up!!! Going a little more nuts .

We are also partially packed up, but luckily I hadn’t packed up my reloading and shooting gear. We had just started house shopping when them mess hit us.

Online ordering at the grocery store is booked up for about 2 1/2 weeks. At Wal Mart it’s not such a long wait, but it seemed like half the items got a substitute. I said No Thank You when they substituted Pesto Pizza for the type I wanted.

On Tuesday senior day at Walmart everybody starts lining up at 5am for the 6am opening. By 8am the shelves are empty. Home Depot, Lowes, Costco, and Trader Joes are the same here in AZ.

The Krogers I go to was stocked up pretty well yesterday. No toilet paper or towels but lunch meats, bacon, canned goods, bread and vegetables are back on the shelves. Looks like the panic buyers have disappeared for now. Staff looks a little stressed out but not as much as 3 weeks ago.

Dale: The next time you need something, send me a PM! I left my shop fairly well stocked. I’ll tell you where to look and where the key is hidden!;) No mask needed and no lines!:)

That's what we do!

I’m picking up our first “on-line order” today. I tried to place another order for the next week’s shopping and they were booked solid for three weeks. HEB is doing a great job! They just can’t handle the demand after we had our first local covid case. Seems everybody is using the curbside service. I’ll have to don the mask and gloves next time!:(

A very kind gesture!
