It was 57 degrees above, here on Long Island. I stepped out in a light jacket and was good to go. I hate the cold!

Talked to my son said it was in the 40s in Albany. I think it is 4 in Mo. and goin down. Doug
The temperature in SW MT dipped to -42F last night!
Don't know what the wind chill was...at -42F ambient would it really matter? Electrical power went out due to a nearby substation failure at 12:06am (yes, 6 minutes after midnight!). Rolling out of bed at 5:30, the house temp had dropped to 49 degrees.
Fortunately, we have a standby electrical panel for situations just like this. Hooked up the standby generator, switched local power grid off, switched external power on, fired up the generator, selected the items I wanted to power (eg. furnace, refrigerator, a few lights and outlets) and we were up and running by 6:00. By the time the local electrical company was able to restore power (8:45) the furnace was warming the home nicely, the fridge was running, and the second cup of coffee was being enjoyed.
I never forgot the Boy Scout motto...Be Prepared!!
What people in MT do when it's freaking cold...give Old Man Winter the middle finger.

-29 in the frozen tundra of NE IA currently...Blizzard conditions the past two days, many of the county roads are blown shut. All of the plow trucks have been pulled off the road. Ready for spring here!
