Ithaca LSA-65 rifle barrel thread pattern and shank diameter

Wondering if anyone can tell me what thread pattern and shank diameter I have on my Ithaca LSA-65 bolt action rifle barrel chambered in 30.06. I've been considering re-barreling this rifle in 7mm-08 but would love to know if I could just order a prefit or would need to have a gunsmith completely handle re-barreling it, if it doesn't match anything else out there. I've searched all over the place looking for this info and seem to keep coming up empty. Hoping someone can lend some info!

There are no pre-fit barrels made for the LSA 55/65 series of rifles, made by Tikka and imported by Ithica . There are no pre-fit stocks and there are virtually no spare parts or magazines either. Have the extractor break and you now have an expensive door stop. I think I have installed new, custom barrels on 2 in the last 25yrs.

Thank you for your input on this. Any other pearls of wisdom you might be able to share when re-barreling one of these that might make life easier to accomplish it?

Your .30/06 magazine may not feed 7mm/08 cartridges well
If I did end up converting this to a 7mm-08, I was planning to make it a custom long-throated chamber to allow me to seat 7mm bullets out to a COAL of 3.0 or a little more. Would a much longer COAL length than normal help at all with potential feeding problems?

Give it a try and let us know how it works out. What I do remember about these actions is the bolt is smaller in diameter than the common .700 we are used to seeing. If it was me, I'd not be trying to turn it into something that it's not.

I am about to rebarrel an M55 22/250. Info I have found says they have same thread as current T3 1"x 16tpi but different tennon length.
7mm/08 sounds good.

Extractors are available from factory, have two on the way from Beretta Australia. I would bet medium and long action have same extractor. I have made a temporary extractor out of 5mm key stock with some careful filing.:)
Only broke because of operator error.:(

Awesome info there B! Any chance a Tikka prefit would be possible if the threads are the same? Is the tennon length on the T3 barrel longer or shorter than the M65? What fabricating are you planning on doing if any to put it together? Why did you have to order from Beretta Australia instead of Beretta USA? With a COAL of 3.0 on this hypothetical 7mm08, do you foresee major feeding issues with my standard 30.06 LSA-65 magazine? Thanks for your assistance here!

Any chance you might be able to share the source of your info on the thread pattern and tenon length dimensions for the Ithaca barrels? Thanks so much for the info once again!

LSA 55 is a short action (if that's the same as the M55). LSA 65 is a long action. Sure, the .22/250 will work in the LSA 55.

I will have to second this statement!!! terrific rifles, my Tikka M65 (same as LSA-65) in 6.5x55 is one of the best 'modern' shooters I own. search for a spare magazine has yielded 0 hits in the past 3 years, so much so, that I actually bought a beater 30-06 just for the magazine two years ago...

Leave that gun alone. It,s kinda a collectors item/wall hanger...Just buy a good 7-08.they are common...
Omho

Not many Tikka 65/55 posts on here....Does anyone know if a Tikka 65 can be loaded from the top of receiver into the top of the magazine or must it be loaded into the magazine when it has been removed from the receiver?
