I had one of those boxes of 1000 in the cart at midway and after paying for it and hitting the complete purchase button it disappeared from my cart and the charge was negated as no longer in stock.

The UPS HazMat guy I talked to didn't seem concerned about the 8lbs of explosives missing in their warehouse on airport property ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Say it isn't so.
Just a matter of jacking up the price on everything else to cover the loss. Hospitals do that on a regular basis to cover the folks with NO insurance that they MUST serve in the ER. Ever wonder why your Medical Ins. is so high? What about the Obama Care Mandate? And you wonder why prices keep going up.

As someone in the industry, two things are driving prices up: the dollar has lost 10% of its buying power in just the last 90 days. It would be worse and will be as the economy improves. 2) Demand is high as Democrats have started to buy guns, ammo, etc. The last panic put 4 of 6 gun stores out of business in my city alone. This might finish off the rest. We were just quoted 20/box from major wholesaler for range grade 9mm....ammo is a commodity just like gold or silver...

I'll check next time I'm in the area, but I don't think that there's as much panic buying here as elsewhere. I could be wrong tho.
