Is Trail Boss Unobtanium Right Now?

It's made here in Australia by Thales. Last batch produced was in 2020. That was about the same time that they stopped producing pistol powder here in Australia. Pistol Shooters haven't had access to pistol powder for years now and it is causing great problems. There was a very small batch of Lovex powders imported from the Czech republic last year and we are hoping that will grow into something bigger.

Last update from Thales on Trailboss was in April 2021 when they said it won't be produced in 2021 and there continues to be an active research and development project associated with its delivery.

That sounds to me like it won't be made here anymore. Hopefully some other manufacturer picks it up. Won't help us in Australia though as we won't be able to import it most likely.

Regards from Oz.

I have not seen either for close to six years.

I wonder what all of these subsonic ammo companies use?

From ADI website,
Trail Boss – This propellant is unlikely to be released in 2022 as there continues to be an active research and development project associated with its manufacturing optimisation.

N32c Tin Star was "said" to be discontinued as well though I've never used it or verified it's availability.

Yes, Nammo Vihtavuori announced recently that N32c, N105, and N530 have been discontinued. The reason given is 1) sales are low in relation to its other powders; 2) most Viht 'canister' powders are chemically / production related to the company's bulk products, but not this trio which therefore use up greater time and resources to set up occasional production runs. With Viht currently producing double its output of a couple of years ago to meet demand, it can't afford to divert production capacity away from its big sellers.

Vit has been one of, if not the most, reliable rifle powder producers, in the N120 to N150 range. Their prices have been stable. A BIG GOLD STAR to Vit!

Biggest benefit I saw in Trail Boss was it's bulk. Helps prevent case over-charging.

If all you're really concerned about is reduced loads Unique works well but Alliant powders have been unobtainable here for a few years now.

Life is like a beaver colony.
