Is this possible?

As there is no Lapua 222 brass available but Lapua 223 is available do you think 223 brass can be converted to 222? If it can be converted what steps / dies would you recommend using? I contacted Lapua and asked when 222 brass might be available again but they have not responded. Not providing some type of answer doesn't create good customer relations.

I contacted Capstone last March about .222 brass and their rep Phil Hoham stated it was on their "postponement list" due to Lapua concentrating on military contracts and no idea when it will be available again. Last box I bought was a year ago and the vendors stock was quickly depleted when Lapua announced the list of cartridges on "the postponement list."

I went through this exercise some time back using range pickup Norma .223. Not because I had to, but wanted to. I converted a 100 pc. lot and yes, neck turning was needed as loaded cases were neck tight in my Rem.788. I do not anneal brass and the lot started neck split failures after only two firings. Overall it was not worth the time and effort spent. I pressed the "easy button" shortly after seeing Starline made a big run of .222 brass.
Good brass.

Easy conversion, though. Full length size in std. .222 die, shorten and outside turn.

(psssst....easy button)

Thanks for the info. I do have some Star Line 222 brass but I've had very good luck with the Lapua. I have some now that I stopped recording reloads on at 26, now they are probably over 30 with no problems. I do anneal each time they are reloaded so that may help keep them in good condition.
