Is this acceptable

An accurate assessment with the bore scope after cleaning will still reveal some degree of small pits (voids); only a few isolated individual or small clusters should be visible. This is common on the cheapest to the most expensive barrels I have checked. If you see an abundance of pits, that is a different matter altogether which I would consider unacceptable.

digital images look like rust or pitting in the barrel. Images with a Hawkeye bore scope are a true optical image and immediately identify that you have crap of come kind in the barrel.

Unfortunately I don't have access to Hawkeye and I have never tried a Hawkeye scope.

Personally I don't look down my bores, they either shoot or they don't. I can share a little bit of information with everyone about a gun I just bought from a friend. I've purchased barrels and guns from him before and if he says they shoot that's usually an understatement.

This particular caliber gun is something I've thought about for a while but figured it'd be a purchase down the road. He's a meticulous reloader and competitor whom I've learned a great deal from and is always pushing the bar higher with his scores.

He sent a note asking if I was interested in purchasing his 338 Lapua Savage target action rifle. The price was a steal but he warned ahead of time, do NOT look down the barrel with a scope, you'll be really disappointed. It looks really bad even though it barely had 100 rounds down the barrel but you already know how it shoots.

Before I go on, this is the gun Randy Wise set the ELR World Record in Indiana with a Cold bore shot with two follow up shots at 2158 yards. He's had other guns including a Savage Pistol in 223 he shot the local 1000 matches and he literally beat all rifles he competed with and he said the same thing about the bore.

Either they'll shoot or they won't, not sure why ugly barrels can sometimes shoot like lazers and the perfect barrel may struggle. In the longrange and ELR game the Indian may be the major factor but you can't argue with the results Randy has been getting.

Hope I can continue to steer this butt ugly barreled Savage nearly as well as Randy but I won't be trying to sneak a peek up its skirt to see how it looks.
