I have a couple surgeon long actions in 300 win mag. One is unfired with a 20”, the other with 20 rounds in 24”. While my other custom actions, I send off to be measured to get barrels turned, I’ve never really thought about this. If the actions are identical, couldn’t I theoretically swap barrels, and as long as both headspace, they would work?
Which begs the question, if I want to have a different chamber spun up, is there a market for take off barrels? I was thinking about doing a 7prc on one, and I’m not sure on the other. But if the barrels would basically be worthless, I’d rather just shoot them out, as I’ve got plenty of 300 win mag components, and then rechamber down the road.
