I agree, at least on most. There are some that shouldn't be dry fired but I can't think of a bolt action cf that it will damage. T/C break open single shots are an example of one that should not be dry fired as it damages the fp return spring on those, with repeated dry firing. But most bolt guns? What's supposed to happen...the end of the pin that's in front of the fp stop/shoulder fly off from inertia? Never seen it happen, not once. Even on old Mausers etc that several are well over 100 years old. The shoulder/stop get battered? Never seen that either.I would like to see some evidence that dry firing a modern centerfire rifle will damage the firing pin.
