Is the17 Mach 2 here to stay?

I have a Kimber classic varmint with stainless fluted barrel and kick ass beautiful walnut. Used it a few times in Alberta and Sask. on ground squirrels. After doing body pops on a dozen or so ,some of the others seemed to get a little nervous. Was sighted in for 50 yards, but even out a bit past a hundred ,I would set the crosshairs a little over their heads and touch off. Did not miss very many. Often the impact would pull them out of their holes . Some years when we have no snow on the ground late into the fall the ,the rabbits are white and easy to see sitting still under the spruce and balsam trees. Sometimes out at 40 or 50 yards I can only see the the black eye through the branches, thats all the little Kimber needs to send the bunny kicking. When shooting tree squirrels for the pot its head shots only as the little cartridge can very destructive on the eating parts at close range. I now use a Cooper LVT and a Jackson squirrel in 17 HMR when shooting gophers out west for the extended range, but on squirrels and rabbits at home I always use my Kimber in Mach 2.

Fellas i have 5 rifles in hm2 and have to agree with above on accuracy over hmr but have to disagree on the semiauto- now i don’t own a voodoo but did purchase a cheap a17 in hm2 and it does great cycling the little round. Only mishap was one of the rounds came apart at rim where firing pin hit and made a bunch of smoke. Cycles fine and after finding sweet spot with action screws it is almost as accurate as 452’s - almost. Love that little round
