Is RCBS just another import marketing company these days ?

As true as that is, manufacturing in our country will never again be the same. Corporate greed has turned the tables. Look at the difference between the stagnant employee wages today, and the increase in CEO pay in this country. Long time companies in our country were doing quite well when making substantial profits here. By moving production overseas, they have increased those profits by leaps and bounds. It's the nature of business, and those business owners are entitled to make as much money as they possibly can. The difference in CEO pay in our country, and all other industrialized countries, is disgusting. Apple is once again starting to make computers here, but the price is out of reach for most people. We have priced ourselves out of the market. When I started out in my apprenticeship, all union ironworkers wore Red Wing's. Our jeans were made in the U.S. You would never, ever see a union member driving an import. The union motto has always been: live american, work American, buy American. Times have changed. International trade creates jobs on both sides of the water. Most people purchase the things they can afford. Someone living on minimum wage or social security can't afford to purchase products made here. China is teaching us a lesson about how the cow ate cabbage.

So you agree that business owners should hire non-union labor to increase profits?

Business owners can hire whomever they choose to. I have no say in that. I have never tried to persuade someone to join a union. That is a personal choice. I will say this: I have many friends that worked for non-union steel erectors. I am now retired. Most of my non-union friends have to continue to work. There are many ways for the employer to make profits. In the industry in which I worked, our bid was sometimes a couple of thousand dollars higher than our non-union counterpart. Those job bids are very competitive, but usually, the non-union erector would reduce their bid amounts to cut your throat. They receive their first draw, drop the workers comp insurance, and increase their profit. Or, they would receive their first draw, then go belly-up and disappear, increasing their profits. Businesses that choose to become signatory, have the luxury and good fortune to have access to skilled, qualified labor. Be it 2 or 2000 people. Not something you'll find at your nearest unemployment office. You don't shake trees and have skilled, qualified labor falling out.

My dad was/is in the UMWA and my brother is in the Iron workers, local 3. I agree with you and believe me, I understand the Live American, Work American, Buy American motto....... it's too bad that so many people especially union members don't follow that, we would be way better off right now if they did. China definitely wouldn't be doing so well. In the mean time, I'll keep doing my part to help our economy buy continuing to Live American, Work American, Buy American.

My 2014 duramax is just about as american as i could buy and still be able to use it. Lots of american and canadian jobs there but some of the foreign companies support just as many families. Not counting the corporate guys id say a hyndai family in montgomery al is doing just as good as a chevy family in flint- i know theyre happier!

This is primarily a firearms forum. Firearms are inanimate objects, exhibiting neither good nor bad behavior. The person or persons operating the "system" determine the value of it's use. The same as Employers, Employees and Unions. If the people operating the "system" are exhibiting "bad behavior", does not mean EVERYONE does. There are EXCELLENT employers that are so good a union would be an injustice. Then there are employers that need the strongest unions on the face of this planet. There are unions that are not only counter productive to the employer, they drain the blood out of the workers they "represent".. NEITHER are desirable..

I would rather work for and see Employers treat their workers with such respect that a union could not PRY their way in! Sadly, the percentage of employers in that category are in dwindling supply. Conversely, I wish MOST employees were worth what they are paid! I was a Lieutenant in the Houston Police Department. At one point I was the "Day-Shift Commander" at The Southeast Command Station. My shift consisted of 4 "civilians", 62 Patrolman and 6 Sergeants. If I had to put a percentage on it, I bet 20 percent of that shift were about worthless. I had to stand on their necks to get them to properly perform their job. The others were GREAT! But "The Civil Service Commission" made it difficult to discipline errant employees. We had a Union, however, the Commission was MUCH tougher than the union ever was! I would be remiss if I based ALL employees on the 20 percent!

It is NOT "The Employer" or "The Union" that is inherently "bad". It is the people running "The System" that determines that fact. So please don't judge every union or employer based solely on your experience(s) or what you have heard or read!

ShootDots +++++1

People are the ?? some good employees and some not

companies manage based on the good vs bad,

management is some good some bad, employees have the choice of working for the bad or get a union or leave

the choice of working for a good management and never leaveing

people and their attitudes - personal values - self respect -are the sole controlling factor

The USA isn't totally lost yet! All it takes is a Government run by US citizens, and the right people who care what happens to the USA and it's " US citizens". If government would pull the strings on health care, Oil companies, Banks and put the largest percentage of manufacturing back in the US things would start heading in a positive direction instead of shaking hands with the devil!

Vote Republican! Back it up with your buying habits!

I buy things in non-communist countries. Period...

At some point in the future, one last American company will move production overseas; and that will be the tipping point. They US will move to a primarily service sector economy, since it's already the nation with the largest trade imbalance.

NOTE: Wal-Mart employees/greeters do not buy new cars or trucks, and they do not buy houses.
