Is my 6brai die really a 6br?

Got a reply from whidden. He agrees it appears to be the wrong die. He apologized and said he wants to make it right.. Thanks for the help.

Dies are case hardened. While it is only .005 to .010 deep, it does take carbide and a little more than usual tool force to break through it.

Like others, that “just take about .020 off the bottom” is not what I would want to hear.

Why would anyone take .020 off of an expensive die when they can take .020 off of a cheap shell holder and accomplish the same results.

I've found this type response to be typical of Whidden. It's why I keep using their products.

They have most certainly helped me out in every situation..Most all my dies are Whidden too.

I know this thread is old but fwiw my whidden die was the same way, a little trim and she was good to go. It was either that of wait two weeks for turn around time. I had the rifle shop take a little off on a large but a bench grinder and various sandpaper would have been fine too. But in all honesty I use an older forester custom grind I bought second hand now. It’s perfect. I would sell the whidden set and buy a Redding dasher set and shave that one or just a Redding dasher seater and harrels sizer
