Is it The Load, The Gun Or The SHOOTER?

OMG. Blaspheme! Come on Rebel, you KNOW I never miss. Any variable is in my equipment, and NOT because I didn't buy great stuff but because either the guy who made it messed up or the guy who sold it to me was wrong. So it HAS to be anything but me! :D

I know snert. I know:) I need get get better with my excuses. Throw one out the 5 shot group in front of a bunch of rubes, scream out "Damn Aurora Borealis effect!", throw a couple of things down and pack up and leave. They will never question it.:D
edit- or I could just blame this guy -

At any given time the problem could be any combination of the above three things! The trick is being able to figure out which one or combination of the above is the problem!

Bart

Bart pretty much said it all. But beyond KNOWING your rig, load and shooter capabilities, having the knowledge and experience to recognize which is the culprit, doesn't happen overnight. Excuses are like navels....everyone has one. Knowing how to fix it once you've recognized (or admitted) the problem, that's the challenge that took me a while to learn. But with the help of people like Bart, and some of the other top shooters (and bullet makers) on this blog and elsewhere, I learned how to identify and adjust for the errors I'd been making. But having the best of equipment/load, still will not compensate for a shooter's poor shooting habits.

One thing that's really helped me this year has been the ability to shoot at an indoor 100 yard range. It doesn't help me stay on the tune but it does show me what the rifle is capable of. When you live out west, catching a day with good conditions at an outdoor range is often not possible, figuring out what you have is much easier indoors. Now, it's down to tuning and wind reading. Boning up on some basic statistics should help too.
